B.B.
My husband has one. I have the Samsung Galaxy 2 7.0+. We both love them, we use them everyday. I like the smaller one because it fits in my purse, but my hubby loves the bigger screen on his.
I absolutely recommend them :-)
I usually do one big gift for my husband each year. This year I am looking at getting him a tablet. Obviously, a Ipad would be ideal but that is a few hundred dollars out of my budget...I have a goal to not put any holiday gifts on the credit card this year. I really don't want to spend more than $300. I am looking at the Samsung Galaxy 2 Tab (10.1 inch version). Most of the reviews I have read see to say that this would be a good choice. Does anyone have this and do you like it? Thanks in advance....

I have Kindle Fire and love it. We are on a strict budget so I never even considered an iPad and am devoid of all the bells and whistles, but I can tout the Kindle. It's easy to use and affordable.
I don't have that brand, but I love mine. I use it a lot to read, play games, manage my calendar. It's wonderful. I highly recommend one.
We have an iPad, but are looking to get our son a tablet for Christmas. My husband has done a ton of research and decided on the Kindle Fire HD.
We bought the kids tablets at Staples a couple of weeks ago, the Android version, so it would be compatible with the games they like to play. I looked at getting the new one that is Windows version but none of the games I like to play are on there.
I love the kids tablets, they are so much more visible than my cell phone and I can do so much on them. I think if you want to get him a tablet that you could fine one for a lot less than $300. The kids tablets were only $149.95 each. They are pretty large too. Maybe 10" by 5" or 6".
What I like about a tablet is you don't have to buy anything else. No plan or program to use them. You can sit in McDonalds or Burger King if you don't have a computer with internet access at home. Just a wireless signal is all they need to have full access.
I think it is totally silly to buy Ipads for that price. They don't do anything more than a regular tablet will do.
We bought the Google Nexus 7 and love it!

I recently bought a Nook Color and am enjoying it. I bought a reconditioned one for $99. It looks and feels new. You can go to Barnes and Noble and have their Nook person show you how it works. And you can return it in 30 days, for a full refund, if you're not satisfied with it. You could have them set up an account for you on the Nook and work with it yourself to see if it's what you want. However, the Nook person demonstrated all of it's features so that I knew it was what I wanted at the price I wanted to pay.
I found several sites on the Internet that compared tablets.
I asked a question here about tablets. Here are those responses. http://www.mamapedia.com/questions/16035643728953802753
