Super Embarrassing Health Question

Hi Mamas,

I have a really embarrassing question. I will try to put it as delicately as possible. Sorry in advance that it's TMI!

So, yesterday I went to the bathroom to do #2. And when I wiped, I noticed that quite a bit of it was up front where it doesn't belong! I was surprised, concerned and puzzled. Then today, I had to go and barely made it in there (literally almost crapped my pants) Thank God I was home and near the bathroom. And again, it was as if a lot of it didn't "come out" and it was up front again. WTH??? I don't understand why this is happening and why I almost couldn't hold it in the first place. I am horrified!

Could this be because I've had three vaginal deliveries and things are stretched out, and when the BM is coming out, it's migrating to the front??? My youngest is 2 yrs old and this is the first time I've had this problem.

I know that my diet hasn't been great lately, so I'm going to start improving that immediately, but if it doesn't help who should I go see? My PCP or my gyne? This is so embarrassing. Has anyone else been through this?

What can I do next?

Is it possible that you have a fistula?

It sounds to me like the issues is more with the consistency of the poo and not direction. In other words I think it is your diet.

If it was something physical it should have started earlier.

could be a fistula - I'd make an appt RIGHT AWAY with a GYN to have this checked out. If it turns out to be nothing - great!!

Talk to your PCP he might send you to a specialist - but just know that your PCP does prostate exams to men several times a day and the specialist does rear end work all day. So no need to be embarrased. Just be sure you're healthy. Once it's done, you can call your hubby or BFF on your cell and have a good old laugh about getting older!! :) Feel better.

I had two friends that this happened to due to their episiotomies and vaginal births. The first friend was in her late 30's and they told her it would need to be repaired surgically, but, she had very large babies and tore horribly- babies were 10 & 11 lbs. The second friend was in her mid twenties and had an average size baby with a large episiotomy. It went away on its own, she went on to have another baby and the problem didn't reappear. Definitely see your GYN.

I think it's something you can wait and watch. I would imagine it's diet and loose stool. Give it a couple days and see if changing your diet helps.

It's happened to me before if I don't get to the toilet in time. Just make sure you wash good and you'll be fine.

Don't be embarrassed- go to your gynecologist or a certified nurse midwife- they have seen it all. If it's something like a fistula, the sooner you go, the better. AND you'll have peace of mind.

In the meantime, you might want to think about wearing pads/Depend type things of some sort just in case you can't make it to the bathroom in time in public, you'll save your clothes and a LOT of embarrassment for yourself!

Hang in there and make an appt.

We all go through weird things- nothing to be embarrassed about. Bodies are complex and we don't have control over them.

Many hugs!!!

I haven't been through this but I would go to my PCP to figure this out.

I would think if this was from child birth it would of happened before now. You may have a polyp or a hemorrhoid that is blocking part of the opening. I would get checked out by you PCP. No one likes being closely looked at there, but it has to be done :-(
