We grew sunflowers with my 6 year old. Today we harvested the seeds from them. What do I do to the seeds before we eat them? Can they be eaten Raw? Do I wash them? We like them salted, Is there a salt mix that I dip them into & dry??? I can't seem to find anywhere on line what to do to prep the seeds before using them in any of a million great sounding recipes. I would be thankful for any suggeations.

What can I do next?

Rinse your seeds with water before you do anything with them. My daughter and I grew sunflowers a couple of years ago and we lightly salted them and baked them in the oven (350) for about 15 minutes. You can eat them raw if you like and I don't think I would recommend baking them before you cook with them.

Hi C.,

I believe they are supposed to be baked (with or without salt).
