Does anyone have a tip on removing water stains from a solid oak hardwood floor without having to sand and refinish? I had a large plant in the corner and upon moving it realized that there is some slight water damage underneath - dark and whitish marks. No major damage or buckling.
Thanks for your ideas!

mayonnaise works great for removing water stains from fine wood furniture, so why not a hardwood floor. Scoop a large dollop onto the watermark and let it sit 20-30 minutes.

well i've only heard this, but from several sources think i even read once or twice...but they say cork, if you rub it on the water stain, it is supposed to fade it nearly all the way away...

there is also some hint that mayonaise will work as will toothpaste.

here's a good one:

good luck

Someone recommended mayo on the stains to me, I was skeptical, but it took the white marks right off....

Easy! Go to a good hardware store & pick up a can of Restor-A-Finish in the right color and some .0000 steel wool.
Soak the steel wool with the R-A-F and rub gently in the direction of the wood grain - be patient and the white marks will go away.
If the floor is an old wax finish you can do the same thing with olive oil and steel wool.

You must refinish... if it is solid hardwood. If it is pre-finished and feels soft or wrinkled you have to replace.

I vote for a well placed or not so well placed, depending on where the stain is, a nice rug or another piece of furniture.
