Try Mr. Clean eraser (found w/cleaning solutions). It's sold in a 2-pad pkg.(aprx. $4.00) and can get just about anything out. I was able to get permanent marker out of my counter tops.
My lovely two year old daughter loves to color. Unfortunately, she is coloring my walls, cabinets, and anything else that she can find when free from mom for 2 seconds. We always buy the washable markers but must have missed this one. I have purple lines all over my kitchen cabinets. Does anyone have any suggestions for getting marker off of wood cabinets? I really don't know what to try and am looking for suggestions. Thank you.

S.,
I have soaked a papertowel with rubbing alchol and placed it over the marker. The marker came off. Try first in a hidden place to see if the finish on the cabinet is affected,
Good luck!!
S.,
My daughter uses the mr. clean eraser. I would be careful with it and try it in a small spot, but it is worth a try! She says it takes crayon etc off of her wood floors.

mr. clean white erase pads.
I had a wonderful art piece created on a beige leather sectional and it removed that... Worth a shot!
Take a picture first so that you'll have the "first creations" when she's a famous artist. You never know! Have her pose next to them so you can capture the pride in her face at her masterpiece. Then gently put paper on the cabinets with tape and let her go crazy in "her spot". Only acknowledge positively the art she finished there. Simply erase the others. But the ones on PAPER, WOW! Refrigerator stuff! Let her help place the paper where SHE wants to draw. I bought one of the large post it display easels. They are so cool. Griffin could put the paper wherever with the self adhesive back! So he would post it and go crazy. Now I'm giving unsolicited advice; sorry.
Mr. Clean Eraser Pads. :)
Try one of those magic eraser thingies. If that doesn't work you may have to get your cabinets refinished. my nieces (my best friends girls) did the same thing and my friend took ALL markers and crayons away. now if they want to draw they have those special marker that will only write on the special paper (Crayola makes them I think). Now if they have the urge to draw all over all they will ruin will be the marker. Hope that helps. I work at a portrait studio and if the kids draw on the activity tables I use the lysol wipes to get it off and that usually works.
Have you tried the Mr. Clean Magic Erase sponges? While i've never tried them on wood, they are great for most everything else i've tried them on. My three year old has the "color on everything" problem also. These sponges took permanent marker out of my linoleum floor but it did very slightly fade the floor so be careful. They also took marker off of the white walls. You can't even tell it was colored on.

I have had amazing results with hair spray. It helps if it can soak into the spot. I have also heard of using WD40.
My daughter did the same thing when she was 1 1/2! She decorated the wood entertainment center with black permanent marker. PAM COOKING SPRAY got absolutely every bit of it off the wood! Try spraying it on the marks and wiping with a rag. I hope you have the same good luck that we did! It was a huge relief to know that our entertainment center was not ruined. Best of luck!
S.: I've heard that the Mr. Clean magic erasers work wonders. I know that we have used them at work for removing permanent marker off of white boards. I think my sister used one to get pen off of her vinyl rocking chair. I know I've used them for other things and they are wonderful! I know that they'd at least be worth a try.
I use a product called Solumel. It is a natural solvent without any harmful chemicals. (Made from Melaleuca oil) Anyways, it's from a company called Melaleuca...www.Melaleuca.com.
Hi S..
I also have a very active 18 mo old. I work for a company that has a product that I believe would take care of your marker problem. It takes black sharpy marker out of carpet and off of walls.
If you are interested please give me a call at ###-###-#### or email me at ____@____.com

baby oil, yes definitely baby oil.
I have a dark wood,(almost black) kitchen table that my 8yr old got silvery-blue fingernail polish on. I tried some GOOF OFF. It took the polish on my table, but not the finish. Try rubbing a small area on the inside of the door to check that it won't hurt your finish before you try the area with the marker
I've had good luck with the Magic Erasers I think they're made by Mr Clean... I believe there may be a couple of different brands. If that doesn't do it then I'm not sure what will. I hope it works for you or you find another solution I know how you feel we have marks on walls & doors etc from pencils and crayons it seems they never stop and it's hard to keep things out of their hands especially when they have older siblings that don't put things away... that's how it is in our house at least.
Good luck

I see a lot of responses that suggest the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. It is a wonderful cleaning tool, but DO NOT let your children handle this sponge! It BURNS their skin...SEVERELY!
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser
Here is some great tips for your predicament! See below.
I LOVE THIS SITE: http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf788353.tip.html
FYI: I read about a mom who's 2 year old colored with a sharpie I think on her wood cabinets. Surprisingly, she used OFF bug spray! How about that? Anyway there are oodles of ideas to try on there. Good Luck! Aren't two year olds fun??? :)

Have you ever tried Magic Clean Erasers(sponges)? You have to rub very gently or you will scratch your cabinets. I have gotten permanant marker off my wood table and wood coffee table. These erasers get crayons off of things too. I love them!
The Mr. Clean Eraser works on everything....even spots on carpets!!
Hi S.! The Mr. Clean Magic Eraser got black Sharpie off of my wood dresser. It works so good. It took two of them though....she really decorated it:)!
Good morning S., You won't want to rub hard as it may remove the finish from your cabinets. I used the Mr. Clean eraser to remove the same from my coffee table also it helped remove nail polish removed white marks. You could try a solution of simple green and water in a spray bottle Equal parts. Not many people use hair spray anymore but it does remove ink from shirt pockets it might remove the marker also.
Good luck S., sounds like you have a little rembrandt like we do ( 5 grand kids) I have a Nana'a Angel Art wall the kids drew on and I didn't remove it. I drew frames around it. They also have their hand prints at ages 17 months and 4 yrs old on it with drawn frames.

Try Goof Off, you get it at wal-mart in the paint department or Home Depot and Lowe's. It is strong and you need to be careful not to rub the finish off your cabintes. I hope this helps.
I feel your pain...I have dealt with this one before. What I find helps is a degreaser or laundry stain remover. Good luck!
Happy Mother's Day!
If the Magic Clean eraser doesn't work (and it may not), mix baking soda with a little salt and water into a paste. Gentley rub on w/ a rag and keep in a circular motion till it lifts it all, then wipe down with water...extremely time consuming but it works and doesn't damage the wood or finish.
BTW- just a piece of advice...I went through my ENTIRE house and threw away EVERY marker (yes even the permanent ones) because my daughter had a way of finding them ALL! There wasn't a thing this girl wouldn't mark on walls, furniture, cabinets, clothing, couches....drove me crazy!!!! Go to the store and stock up on the washables...they will save your sanity and your furniture!
My four year old does the same thing, she got to a cabinet in her bedroom with a black sharpie. We used Goo Gone or Goof Off and it came right off.
i would try the Mr.Clean Magic Eraser... that thing is AMAZING... i dont know if it would work on wood cabinets though. Last night i read in a magazine that vegetable oil would remove marker from walls. It's worth a try i guess. :) Good luck.
I see that everyone else had the same suggestion I was going to leave.Mr Clean magic eraser!I've never tried on kitchen cabinets but just about every where else. And my neighbor used it to remove sharpie marker off of her painted walls and wood entertainment center.
These are all great advice :) I would recommend the magic eraser or the WD-40
Hi S.,
Sure. I've learned from many past experiences! Give me a call or e-mail me. This is a naturally safe product & it works on permanent markers & removes any trace from wood.
Leave me a message & I'll call you back.

S.,
Try the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. My daughter rubbed one of her toys across our new cabinets, and the paint on the bird's beak was left behind. I got it off with the magic eraser. After that the spot looked like I had marred the finish, but Pledge solved that. I've used it to get sharpie off of laminate too, so I hope it would work on children's markers.
Hi S.,
Your lovely 2 years old sounds pretty much like my lovely 3 years old :)
I found a great product that takes almost anything from anywhere without damaging surfaces and it is not toxic.
It is called Sol-U-Mel from Melaleuca, You can only buy it through them, I have been a customer for over 3 years now, I just don't do the bisiness side anymore but will be happy to get one for you if you want or give you more info on this.
You can take shrpie marks from linoleum floors with this product!
It won't damage the surface, actually it helps the wood.
I don't really know of anythign else that works this good.
Let me know if I can help here,
Good luck!

MagicErasers are truly magic. Also, believe it or not vinegar works well. Finally Barkeepers freind. Not positive about using it on wood, but the bottle will tell you if you can or not.
Good Luck!
Happy Mother's Day!

Have you tried the Mr. Clean magic eraser? Have never tried it on cabinets, but used it to take black permanent marker off of a painted wall. Will need to use a little elbow grease though.
try buying the Magic Eraser by Mr. Clean. These things are amazing. Make sure you buy the one that is white. Don't get the ones that have blue on one side.
Hairspray or rubbing alcohol.
I would try that Mr. Clean magic eraser, I know it took marks off of my wall. Also just a suggestion buy the Aqua Doodles they have no ink at all and I think there might be other similar marker products. Good Luck!
S.
Hi, two words, Rubbing Alcohol. it removes permanent marker from everything without ruining it!
Check the crayola website or call them. They have all sorts of advice for getting pretty much any marking tool off of anything.
Have you tried the 'magic erasers'cleaning bars, they are like a sponge sort of w/cleaner in it? They got permanent markers off my kitchen tables and walls. They were 'magic' for me!!!
The Mr. Clean Eraser is wonderful... please be careful with it though, I used it on my wood floors for non-washable markers... and removed a little of the varnish as well.
Not a big deal to us, since we are going to refinish the floors... but just wanted to give you a heads up. ;)
We too missed the non-washable marker part too! LOL
The magic eraser! Its great!
I would try rubbing alcohol. it removes permanent marker, and should not take the finish off the wood.
I have had this problem myself and found a product that takes it off practically without scrubbing. It's called Sol-U-Mel. Contact me at ____@____.com and I can give you the information on the company and how to order it. This stuff is great for any stains, even pet stains. You can also use it in the laundry!!!!!!!!!1
Mr. Clean Magic Eraser! They are awesome. But be careful not to rub too hard....you can even take the paint off your things!
Hey chicca!
This is a bad thing! Check out crayola.com and go to the parents section and stain removal, here's what they said. How to remove Markers from finished wood (paint, stain, varnish):
Cleaning Materials
Cotton balls
Sponge
Nail polish remover
Soft Scrub® (mild abrasive cleanser)
Stain Removal Tips
Wipe all stains with a damp sponge. If any stain remains, apply Soft Scrub with a damp sponge, work in a circular motion and rinse. If the stain persists, saturate a cotton ball with nail polish remover, blot the remaining stain and rinse.
try the mr clean magic erasers. You may want to try it in an area that isn't so noticeable to make sure it doesn't take off the finish but these things are wonderful and so far haven't found anything that it didn't take off and hasn't ruined anything yet but don't know what your cabinet finish is made of so still want to check and be careful.
A few suggestions are Lemon juice, wood oils, olive oil, cooking oils, or even one of the mr clean magic erasers. It really depends on how dark it is.
I just read that cooking oil or Pam Spray will work. Not sure how true it is, so I would test a hidden area first.
Also WD-40
Good Luck
