I am looking for suggestions for a double stroller. I can't decide between a side by side, front and back or one where the older child can sit or stand in the back and younger child is in the front. Any suggestions?

I really enjoy my Joovy stand on tandem stroller. It is the kind with a toddler ledge in the back for sitting. The little ledge pushes in so the toddler can stand and hold on as well. Most of the time, my toddler is not with me when I have my baby, so the stroller works great as a single too.

We originally bought a front and back stroller. But, once my baby grew out of the carrier, my oldest was unhappy because his brother would kick him (because that's whay babies do). So, we switched to the Peg Perego Aria Twin and love it. It's true that you get what you pay for. This is more expensive but turns and handles so smoothly and easily. I can even push it with one hand. Whatever you dedice to buy, go to BabiesRUs and try them out, decide what you want and buy it online (just search for it) because I got ours for over $100 cheaper than BabiesRUs.

Hello G.
I would stick with the tandem like a Graco DuoGlider but remember that the front seat only reclines partially.
If you definitely want both seats to recline individually then I would go with the Combi Twin Savvy EX. This one allows for a carseat but a certain one. It's a sidexside. I have the Combi Twin Savvy for my twins who are 2 y.o. It holds 45 pounds per seat. I got mine at BRUS but you should check out Albee Baby for discounts.
Good luck.

I've also hd the Maclaren Twin Traveller/Techno but found it to be too narrow in the end.

I have a front and back and a side by side. I think the sit and stand would be hard for my older one as she likes to sleep somtimes in the stroller

I agree with the mom that said to check them out. I have both types. A Graco duo and a double jogger(don't know the brand, but it's great!). The jogger is much easier to push for my husband and I both. However, you can't put a baby in one, so we used the duo for the first year with the second and third babies. I always put the baby in back and the toddler in front, but I see a lot of people with them switched at the mall. Once the toddler hits three - it gets hard to push. (I should have shopped around and bought a better double, but I had a gift card to Target and this was the only one they had!) However, there is limited storage space on the jogger, so it's hard to take to the zoo, mall, etc.

You might also check USA Baby in Arlington - they have a lot of higher-end strollers. Spend what you can - it does make a big difference unfortunately.

We have the kind where the older child could sit or stand, and it worked really well for us--the only problem was for really long outings, the older child was not always comfortable, but he really liked being able to get in and out pretty much without assistance. The other negative was when the only child got bigger, the stroller became hard to push because the heavier weight was in the back. It wasn't that big of a problem--I would choose that kind of stroller again.

Congratulations on your new baby.

We have the front to back stroller and it works great. The side by side stroller is too hard to take on outings b/c it is so wide it does not fit down most aisles or through a lot of doorways.

We've had both but now have a side by side(JEEP) stroller and we absolutely love it. It is so versatile because my 5 year old can sit in it if she wants to but my 1 & 3 year fit perfect. We have no arguing over who's in the front and back etc. No "Squished" legs, kicking, hair pulling etc. They can both see really well, get out easily if need be etc. Contrary to what others say-it's not hard to get through aisles and doors. You do have to drive it straight through a door or you might bump the sides but normally it's no problem. Also, it folds up much easier and what we found with the front and back stroller was it was super bulky, heavy and hard to push. It took up the entire back of our Dodge Grandcaravan. Just sharing.
