Stroller for Two - Middleton,WI

I need to purchase a double stroller to use with my 2 year-old and 6 month-old. I'm interested in a jogging model. I was hoping to hear opinions on the side-by-side double strollers (BOBs, Baby Joggers, etc) vs the Phil and Ted model. I understand that the bigger child is supposed to ride in the bottom part of the Phil and Ted. I'm worried that he will be bored because he won't be able to see anything while in the stroller. Any comments or suggestions are appreciated!

I have the BOB Duallie and LOVE it! It pushes like a dream, has nice big canopies (separate for each child), the seat recline easily and it very maneuverable. It was definitely worth the investment. We bought ours at REI when they had a 20% off sale.

We've had it for almost 2 years and we've also traveled with it. We took it to Disney World this past winter. To make it a little easier to handle, we used a bungee cord to keep it folded when leaving it on the jetway in the airport and also for riding the buses at Disney.

The only things that I don't like about it is that there is no latch to keep it in the folded position when you are storing it or have it in your car. It's also quite large when folded.

I have not used this one, but have heard nothing but good things about the Citi Mini jogging stroller. They are actually the stroller that people are renting to take around Disney World, and everyone I talked to, said that they wanted to buy one because they loved it so much. Good luck!

We just got our double stroller and thought we wanted the Phil and Ted model first. We went to Babies R Us and they happened to have a great sale on a floor model for a side by side. We had our 2 year old with us as well as our newborn and decided to try both styles out. My daughter hated the Phil and Ted model. Not enough space and invaded into her privacy. We went with the side by side model. It cost more, but it has been great walking them and she is so content and the "new baby" doesn't bother her either - she has her own area. It's also a lot easier to maneuver than I thought - its really great actually! I walk with it and it's helpful recovering from birth and my husband jogs with it and brings the dogs with him as well. Hope you find the one that works for you! If you can, trying them out in the store was really helpful! Good luck.

We purchased a Baby Jogger City Twin Mini stroller for our kids over two years ago when they were 2 1/2 years and 6 months old. We absolutely love it and the kids still fit in it great at almost 5 and 3. We looked at a lot of strollers at the time and nothing compared to how easy and well the stroller is to push and steer (even if only one is in it too), fits in to my compact car's trunk with space to spare, and it fits easily through doors at the mall, zoo, etc. The one thing I would caution you on is that if you plan to try and get through clothing racks in stores, a side-by-side stroller isn't going to work since the racks are so squished together. Good luck on your decision!

I have a 4 year old and an infant and have the Phil & Ted Sport. The bigger child does need to go in the main part of the stroller, so that will not be a concern. The baby seems to enjoy being in her little cocoon, and can still see out the side. One of the things I liked about this stroller is the versatility. Since my son is older and doesn't always want to be in the stroller it works really well for just the baby, but is easy to adapt to a double and pushes and steers easily even with their combined 50+ lbs. And since it's not side by side it is narrow enough to be used for things other than just jogging. I had a single jogger for my son and I only used it for that and going to parks, etc. It was no fun to try to navigate anywhere else.

We have the Phil and Ted's and love it! Just so you know, the bigger child needs to ride up front, otherwise the stroller could tip over. My kids are 3 and 1 and they both like riding in either spot (they weigh about the same). I would go try them out if you can! I love the flexibility of the Phil and Ted's.

I just bought a Baby Jogger City Select double stroller and LOVE it! It is easy to use (assemble, collapse, etc.) and has the maneuverability like you would find in a jogging stroller with only one wheel in the the front. This stroller has only been on the market for about 6 months. I also love the fact that if you want it to function as a single it can...and it actually looks like it was meant to be a single (not bulky). It's worth looking at if you are not sold on what you have seen so far. I didn't want a side by side because of how hard it would be to move through shopping isles and I think this is the best of it's kind. It is a little spendy but isn't much more then the Phil & Ted's stroller.

Also, the City Mini is not a double stroller and cannot be made to function as one (your first responder suggested it). I used a City Mini when I only had the one child and loved it...which is also what made me buy the City Select.

I was also looking at the Phil & Ted's stroller and just wasn't comfortable with the fact that one of my children would be so low to the ground and in what seems a precarious position. I know it is a safe stroller and have heard from others who love it. I also don't think it is as easy to get the child who is on the bottom out of the stroller as it is with the City Select.

I went to Baby Grand to test both of these strollers out. The one in Hopkins has the space so you can drive it around the store. Also, the girl that works in the stroller section is really well informed on the options out there and how they function. I highly recommend at least looking at them there to help determine which one you want to buy.

Hope this helps!
