You are completely out of luck. No matter what anyone or any company selling something tells you, there is no way to get rid of them. They can fade a little, especially with weight loss, but once you have them, you have them.

It's all about genetics.

Good luck!

Unfortunately, stetch marks are mostly genetic. If your mother had then and your grandmothers, chances are you'll be prone to them to.

Nothing can prevent them, but keeping the skin hydrated with something like cocoa butter can help minimize the likelihood and appearance.

In my own case, I found time to be the best way to reduce the appearance of mine as well as getting smaller. The only place I got them was on my breasts once my milk came in, and they were really ugly.

If you're really concerned about it, talk to a dermatologist to see what they recommend to help minimize the appearance. Otherwise, they're our battlewounds for being brave and giving our bodies to being Moms.

Vitamin E capsules of good quality as it is hard to find fresh. It helps somewhat and is good for you. Pierce the capsule and squeeze onto the marks. Helps in the general body healing too.

I have had four children and straight sesame oil gets rid of them. It takes a while and the stuff stinks like nothing else. It hard part is finding time to use it because you don’t dare leave the house in it. You don’t dare have it on around your husband. It's terrible stuff but it fades them away. Hope this helps

Vitamin C (500mg) with bioflavinoids (500mg) 3x/day. Also NATURAL vitamin E (d-alpha tocopherol NOT dl-alpha tocopherol and NOT with gamma, beta, delta - just straight alpha). I took the C 3 times each day and the E, I started with 1 and worked my way up to 3 if it felt right.

Baby oil is mineral oil and that's the LAST thing I'd put on my skin.

Unfortunately, you can never get rid of stretch marks once you have them---kind of like a scar--they will fade and become less noticable over time, but will never completely go away. It really is all about genetics and not about any creams or miracle cures that people try to sell you. Your body did a beautiful thing by having a baby...this is just one of those annoying side effects that reminds you of it! Don't stress about it!

castor oil packs and lots and lots of water and pink salt. Believe it or not, you are probably dehydrated - so you need the salt (NOT table salt) to hydrate and for sure the castor packs help pull the skin together - at least abdominal skin. If you have stretchmarks elsewhere - then you are likely malnourished - needing a bit more nutritional support, especially TONS of vitamin C and zinc. Call our office and ask for the Vitamin C tolerance test and also do the same with the zinc - these both have 'tests' you can do yourself to figure out if you are deficient and how much you need. Both are required for skin to be elastic and firm.

I've had, and so have my customers, great success with Sensaria Natural Bodycare's products, especially the Sea Silk Mask and the moisturizers (Jojoba Oils, body butters, lotions, body washes). What the Mask does is it is mainly comprised of red algae and promotes the cells to come to the surface faster which in turn will reduce the stretch marks.

When I first got stretch marks, they were purplish and raised at first. But over time they lost the color and the bumpiness. You can still see where they were but they're whitish and flush with my skin now. Maybe yours will fade over time, too. I wonder if anyone has tried Mederma. I've seen it advertised to get rid of the appearance of stretch marks as well as scars. Good luck.

Unfortunately there is no way to get rid of stretch marks. As DanaW said, whether or not they stay with you is genetic. They do become less noticeable over time. And keeping your skin healthy will help but will not get rid of them.

Claris is the best product out there... you can get it at Macy's or Nordstrom's.

There are Lazar treatments, but they are costly and will usually only lighten them, not eliminate them. I have a ton of very deep ones, but I have had to learn to accept my "Mommy marks" as a part of me.

If you want to look nice for summer, find a great looking one piece bathing suit. I had my son 2.5 years ago and still have those light purple lines (and I've lost the baby weight). I've been to the dermatologist, she told me to learn to live with them. Honestly, not what I wanted to hear, but I guess it is what it is. Good luck.

Like the other ladies have said it's mostly genetic but it also has to do with how much and how fast you put on weight while you are pregnant. My mother and sister had lots of deep stretch marks and even though I gained about 26 or 28lbs (can't remember) with my second pregnancy I didn't get a single stretch mark. But I gained the weight at a very slow, steady pace, kept hydrated from the inside by eating well and drinking lots of water.

You could consult a dermatologist but that's of course an expense. Some people swear by using self-tanners or spray on tans to help minimize the appearance of the stretch marks.
