I am 28 weeks pregnant i noticed a yellowish almost snot looking discharge yesterday. and i didnt call my doctor right away and didnt think much about it but then someone told me it could of been my mucous plug? But I'm not having any other problems, and i just seen my doctor last week. I'm going to call my doctor but thought i'd ask you moms if you know anything about that?!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

I Called my doctors, and they seem to think im fine, they said it doesnt sound like my mucus plug (which confused me cuz that is what everyone else thinks it could be) but they arent considered. I told them im having normal cramping but i think it is only because ive been moving and doing alot more work, i promised them to take it easy and they dont need to see me, they just said keep an eye on it and let him know if there is any changes and new symptoms to call them right away.

Thanks for your help and concern.

:-)

The yellowish discharge could mean that you have a yeast infection which is common in pregnant women. I had it with both my pregnancies.

I agree give your Dr. a call and see what they say. I was high risk with my children so I would call about anything that i was not sure of. Congratulations!!! Babies are surely a gift from god. I wish you all the best in your upcoming wonderful event. Being a mom has to be the best thing in the whole world.

Hi C.,
I am a labor & delivery nurse . It may be bacterial vaginosis and needs to be treated.Your mucous plug is not usually yellowish. you also need to tell them if it has an odor to it and any burning or itching. Check with your OB

Hi C., and congratulations!

I would call your doctor. You'll feel better, and you won't have to guess what it was, or if it was something you should worry about. After all, you're carrying precious cargo in there, and if it was your mucous plug, the doctors will want to take precautionary measures to prevent infection.
Good luck and again, congratulations! Being a mom is the best job in the world.

Hi C.,

I think it is best to contact your Dr. It's important to let them know about changes of any kind even if you saw him yesterday. IF they don't hear from you they assume all is well. They have no way of know what's going on unless you let them know. I feel it's better to be safe then sorry.

It may be nothing & that would be wonderful. It may be very normal discharge or possibly a concerning sign which needs to be followed up on.

Good luck to you I wish you the best.

Hopefully you called your doctor. If you weren't having any cramping and felt fine it's probably nothing. Better to be safe than sorry! :-) My "plug" came out more clumpy than a discharge.

Go see your doctor ~ it's more than likely your mucus plug. I lost mine two days before having my daughter, however, my sister lost hers two months before giving birth to her daughter. What your doctor may do is put you on bedrest or restrict your activities, it also depends on how much you're dialated, if at all. Best of luck to you!

If it is yellowish, I don't think it would be your mucous plug. I'm thinking that is usually pinkish. It may be an infection or something, and definitely worth a call to the doctor!
Good luck (and congrats!)

It could be several things. All of which the other moms said. I would definelty talk to your dr. just to be safe. I had the same thing with both of my kids and for me it was a thing called gardnerella which is pretty much nothing just discharge.

My mucous plug passed when I was about 28 weeks pregnant, also. I had no symptoms, either. For me, the mucous plug in no way indicated that labor was starting because I carried my daughter to 42 weeks.

Really C., you need to call your doctor. It does sound like your mucous plug. I have had 3 kids and that is what it sounds like. Your doctor may want to see you.

Same thing happened to me when I was 35 and a 1/2 weeks pregnant. I didn't think anything about it until my water broke and I went into labor a day and a half later. So it could be nothing but you just never know. So definitely follow up with your doctor. I'm sure it's nothing to worry about though. Good luck and congratulations!

First off CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR PREGNANCY!!
It sounds like your mucous plug my Dr. told me that you can lose it slowly and be without it for many weeks and it is perfectly normal, unless there is any odor then call right away. Only you know your body best so if you really are concerned call the mother baby ward where you are going to give birth and they can answer any questions you have. Good luck!

C.,

I had the same thing happen, although I was farther along. I thought it was the mucus plug too. Turned out it was probably part of the plug. When the entire plug comes out-- you will know, there is a lot of it. Call your doctor-- I did, and she advised me over the phone not to worry too much about it.

Of course check with your doctor if your unsure and just to make sure but i have to say that when i was pregnant i had a discharge sorta like that and it was nothing but a discharge in general.. you will have discharges no matter what when pregnant even if it looks gross .. and for me when my mucus plug came out it was bloody also so i dont "think" it would be that.. hope everything is ok but i would worry

Hi, C.! I would call your doctor and mention your concerns. It could be an infection of some kind (urinary tract or bladder). Many of these infections can be asymptomatic (no symptoms) except for a change in discharge, and have been linked to preterm labor. I am not trying to scare you by any means, but I am of the opinion that if you are concerned about something during pregnancy, ask your doctor about it!
