Store Coupon Expiration Dates?

Before I toss all these store coupons with a 12/31/11 expiration date, please let me know if any of the stores take them after they expires. Also, i would like to know who honors each others coupons and if they honor expired ones. I know that Bed, Bath and Beyond will take coupons beyond the expiration date. Who else or what other tips do you have?? Thanks!

What can I do next?

If you know someone in any of the services, I have heard that the commisaries take coupons up to 6 months past date - esp those that are on overseas bases. If anybody out there knows more about this, please post - my info is quite old since my friend and her hubby are retired!

Bed bath and beyond is the only one I know of. Apparently they don't mind if you run around and steal them out of your neighbors mailboxes as well. Kind of makes me wonder why they don't just reduce their prices by 20% and stop the printing. :(

Please, please, please do not throw your expired coupons away. They can be used up to 6 months after the expiration date printed on the coupons by U.S. military families living abroad (they cannot be used within the U.S., even in Alaska or Hawaii) through "Coups for Troops."

I've given the link with satellite location addresses here within the U.S. you can send your expired coupons to, so you and anyone reading this can mail them to the site of their choice, they in turn send them directly to a soldier's door. You also have the option to send them directly to a family through their direct mail program. I've also included the link telling you what coupons they CAN use.

FYI ~ coupons are just not available in places like Germany, England, Japan and Guam. I know this for a fact as a friend of mine has recently been stationed overseas and was horrified to find there's no coupons available like there is here in the states. So this is truly a blessing to our troops and their families and a great way to them our support.

And here's the page that tells you which coupons they can use:

Apparently Kohl's cash never expires IF you kick up enough of a fuss about it. (i.e. Ask a manager.)
Otherwise--store & retail coupons-I'd abide by the expiration date.
(I'm sure if you ask, they're gonna tell you no, right?)

It all depends upon the store.

My local grocery stores will take their expired store coupons. The exception? Target. They do NOT take their own expired coupons...go figure.

Call the store and find out what their policy is. Most stores would much rather have the business and take the coupons!

I have used expired coupons at Kroger many times, almost every time I get groceries, as a matter of fact. The dates seem to get closer to closer now don't they? I have only once been told about an expired coupon as most cashiers never even look at the date on the coupon.
I'd also like to offer this advice that I read on a coupon site before and have taken advantage of. If given a choice I use the cashier lanes with young or teenage boys as they are more apt to take out of date coupons and if they make a mistake it is usually in your favor. For example I once used a cat food coupon that was supposed to be good for several cans of cat food. He scanned the coupon once for each can I purchased. He said "As long as the computer lets me, I can do this". Of course I appreciated the cents off.

I think Albertson's and Tom Thumb still double coupons up to a certain dollar value. Kroger no longer does. At Target you can stack them as in if you have a Target coupon either from the register or their web coupons and a manufacturer coupon (eg from the Sunday paper) for the same item you can use both of them. I'm not sure on WalMart's policy but I think they take competitor's coupons too.

I think BJ's do double coupons, theirs and manufacture. I wish I knew that BBB, takes expired coupons, I just through a bunch of them, then again, it is not a cheap store so many times even with the 20% still more expensive then other places.

I work for a major grocery store chain....and even though they don't advertise the fact...they will accept coupons up to 2 weeks beyond the expiration date. Ask...all they can do is say no!!
And I am definitely going to look into this coups for troups website...I toss hundreds of expired coupons all of the time...might as well mail them to someone who can use them!!

AC Moore will take Michael's coupons. But don't even try to give them an expired coupon! Or, heaven forbid, try to show them a coupon on your phone. I did that once and I think I was almost carted away by the coupon police...

I know the Hallmark Gold Crown store in Allen will take your reward coupons after they expire.
