My 4 year old daughter has started this weird thing where anytime she stands up, walks, etc. she will suck in her stomach and then slightly bend down. I have no idea what this is or why she is doing it. The first time she did it I asked her what was wrong and she said her belly itched....there is no rash, no marks, no nothing on her stomach! It has gotten to the point where she does it every few minutes now and I don't think she realizes she is doing it. Does anyone know of anything internally that could be making her do this? The only medication she is on is Zyrtec for seasonal allergies...she's been on that for 2 years.

What can I do next?

I have seen stranger things that turned out to be nothing. I would certainly continue to monitor and ask from time to time why to see if you get the same answer. I agree, if there's no pain not to worry, but the itch makes me wonder about allergies. Kids don't always grow out of allergies, but sometimes grow into them. If it's food, they usually itch in their mouths and with detergent or something it would be everywhere. You might call an allergist to ask some questions...it can't hurt. Sorry I couldn't be of more help but I'm sure it's nothing to worry about regardless.

Hi A....
I also have a child of that age and it seems they start doing something and then it becomes habit. If she doesn't appear to be in "pain" then I would just think its something she is doing. If she is in pain, then I would call your pediatricians office and maybe just talk to the nurse. If her eating habits, sleeping habits, etc have NOT changed, then I'm sure she's just fine and will outgrow it! Hope this helps!?

My son is six years old but when he was five he kept sying his belly hurt all the time and then he would let a stinker and poop himself I would get really mad at him and punish him for this. But I took him in on monday for his six year checkup and talked to the doctor about it and come to find out it is a medical issue. His mucels down their are not strong enough to keep the poop in. That is why he would always say is stomach hurt and he would not know that he was pooping himself. So I would talk to you rdoctor it may be nothing or it could be something simple. My son had to take a medicen for a month to see if that will help him. I hope it is nothing. She could just not realize she can scratch her belly to make the itching stop.

Hi, I would have her checked out by a neurologist or gastro doctor. The reason I say a neuro is becuase I have talked to many moms about seizures, they many different types and many prewarning signs. Or maybe it just medication. Have you done any research on the medicine online? If you have any more questions for me my email is ____@____.com.

sincerely
jo

Talking to her pediatrician could help in figuring out the cause of her problem.
