does anybody use a steam mop/cleaner? I'm thinking of getting one but would like feedback before I shell out the bucks to get one. I'm mostly needing it to clean my floors.
I had a Shark steam cleaner with attachments and loved it soooo much it kept my grout on my floors beautiful
I loved it so much I wore it out. Still trying to find one just like it. Go for it you'll be very happy with one, it worked great on pet mistakes better than my carpet cleaner.

I'm very picky and a neat freak so I wanted to try one of these steam cleaners they are always advertising. I have four kids so I'm always cleaning! I got one of the Shark cleaners at Target. Let's say...it's pretty lame. Barely cleans and drips some water. If you want your floors clean, stick to the old fashioned way...I use Murphy Oil Soap, hot water and get down on my hands and knees. Soooo not fun, but my wood floors are fabulous afterwards. Don't waste your money if you really want a clean floor. Using the Shark was like running a baby wipe across the floor in my opinion. ;-)

Hi J. - I have the H2O Mop and I LOVE it!! My Grandmother also has it and she's loves hers also. I can mop my kitchen (it's an eat in kitchen), laundry room and 2 bathrooms in the time that I use to spen on just the kitchen. And I know that my floors are getting cleaner. The first tme I used it the cloth that you use on the mop was black. Now it still gets dirty but not like that first time. For me it's nice to know that I'm using a clean mop each time since I wash and bleach the cloths in between. And another plus side - floors dry faster since they are not getting sop and wet. By the time I've mopped the last room the first room is dry. And I'm not useing a lot of chemicals on the floor. I do put a cap ful of Mr. Clean in the water, but that's mostly because I like the smell. Just make sure that you get one that has the trigger to activate the steam. A friend's mother-in-law has one that you have to pump the handle (don't know the brand) and she said it was a pain. And make sure you read the directions. My grandma did the first time she used hers and thought it wasn't working right. Found out later that she wasn't letting it heat up first. And with mine, when I first start mopping it dosen't move real good, but once the cloth gets damp it moves just fine.
And I read your "a little about me" and I have just one thing to say "You go girl!". My Aunt is a cancer survivor and I recently lost my step-mother and my cousins little boy to cancer. I know what it can do to a family and to hear that you not only survivied but are "living" - I just love to hear that!! Keep it up!

J., after working at Merry Maids the only way I would ever clean my floors is on my hands and knees. I have tried all sorts of short cuts, swiffers etc and nothing gets it as clean as the old fashioned way...a little hard on your knees but a good trick is to go out and buy some knee pads or use some folded towels to kneel on.
Lots of luck

I have two different kinds, one is a Haan and it works great, I also have a Shark and sometimes it leaks and leaves the floor wet. I love having the steam cleaners they keep my house cleaner and sanatized.
I am a 57 year old mother of two adult children and have allergies so this has helped me greatly.

I have a Steamboy made by Reliable and am very happy with its cleaning ability. It only takes a few seconds to steam up and then you are ready to go. The only downside are the cloths that go on the bottom. When they get worn out you have to buy more and mine seemed to wear out pretty fast because the heat had disintegrated them. I also can't go to the store to get more I have to order refills online. Check to see if you will have to replace filters. My filter lasted pretty long but this is another expense you will have to consider. If you can find a model with a washable filter then that would be a plus.

We had one and had the worse luck with it. It streaked the floors and I never felt like they were very clean,so it went in the trash..

I have a Shark one, about $80 at Target. I like it so far. I've had it about 3 months or so and mainly use it in my kitchen. I've also used it a little on our wood floors, but they're really old and have rough areas (uneven boards, etc.) so it gets caught on those. If your floors are all smooth you should have no problems. It gets spots off the floor really easily - I only go over the area in front of the fridge about 2 or 3 times before it's clean. I haven't used it in any especially tight spaces, but I'm not sure it would swivel enough to get into them if you need it to (behind a toilet or something). Overall, I would buy it again. Hope this helps!

I use the Shark, and I love it! I think it is well worth the money. I mainly bought it because I don't use any chemicals in my house, but I have found that it cleans the floors great. I might add that I have 4 cats, 1 dog, and a toddler!

I too purchased the shark and also returned it. It may have been good for tile (kitchen, bath) but I was really wanting something to cut down on the time it takes to clean the wood floors. It left horrible streaks throughout. We have darker wood so if you have light or dull floors it would work better. Good luck!
