Special Mother's Day Ideas for Mom/Grandma

Plant a tree in grandma's memory. Every year as it continues to grow, you will be reminded of her. One that flowers would be a nice idea. I have gone to doing that when someone passes away rather than sending flowers. It's something that keeps on living. Something handmade from your kids would be wonderful. It doesn't have to be expensive, or time consuming, and certainly not perfect. Something that when she looks at it, she'll think of them and smile.

I would recommend pictures as well. A frame or a lovely scrap book with pictures of your mom with her mom at different ages or even using what you have from the present. It can be a collage like someone suggested something you could frame and hang on a wall or a small book that she just go to and open. Hallmark had some very easy scrap books they were a little pricey but all the nuts and bolts were in there and they went together easily. Since then I think Kmart has copied the same scrap book idea and you can buy it w/ all the stuff.

Your oldest child is about the age of my oldest grandson and I can tell you that I love nothing more than something that he has made with his own hands!!!
My daughter has come up with countless things that I just love. Do you have pictures of your son with his great grandma? Maybe you could do something with that...a coffee cup with the pictures on it, or a special pocket sized photo book and let him "decorate" the book after the pictures are in it.
Another thing that my daughter made for us that I just love...she took dominoes from an old set that was going to be tossed and put some of that black magnetic strip on the back of them...then she cut pictures of our grandson to fit the dominoe and put it on the front. Voila!! Personalized Refrigerator magnets!!
The best thing you can do for you Mom is just love her, spend time with her and let her reminisce about her Mom with you. I love talking about my Mom with my girls...brings back such wonderful warm memories!!

Mothers Day with my kids and grandkids - sharing a special meal - has become even more meaningful and comforting to me since my own mother died. I hope you'll spend time with your mom. We planted things in my yard in memory of Grandma and that was nice. I also have a necklace and bracelet with the birthstones. I'd emphasize her role as Grandma now but also talk about her losing her mother which is a loss you never quite get over.

Give her a massage certificate or a day at the spa... Um other than that it sounds like yo got pretty mucheverything covered. Or you could have the kids make her something from them as a craft or get a sweat shirt or t shirt in her size and ave all the kids put there hand print on it and there name. I also know they have those like bootie charms or hand charms or girl and boy charms and than you can have there name and date put on it. Maybe go to pink unicorn on hall road and mound or somewhere you have to have nick nack and get an angel ina glass cylinder and a mirror light. Have the glass cylinder engraved with our grandmas name and b-day and death date on it.

Check out etsy.com (I just posted to another person to do this for something different) -it's a wonderful resource and there are lots of handmade jewelry items and keepsake items from individual artists on there. They have amazing and inexpensive jewelry you can have made or put together with people's names, photos, charms,etc. It might be nice to have a "grandmother" necklace or bracelet done for her. I know my best friends got me a beautiful tree of life necklace/locket from there after my mother died so I could put my children's photos in there and remember that through death and birth we all feed and become the tree. It was a lovely thing to do.

Do you have any pictures of your mom together with your grandmother? If so, what about a nice 3-photo-opening frame with 3 pix of them in it?

OR if you can put your hands on some pictures from when your mom was little, a teenager, etc...you could do a free video montage with her & her mom over the years.
