Does anyone know where I can purchase file folders for skinny desk drawers? My built in desk in my kitchen has pretty skinny drawers, so standard sized folders will not fit. I don't need the steel thing that the folders hang on because it is already built into the drawer, I just need special size folders. It's so frustrating because I feel like my desk is just taking up space because I can't organize anything in it!!! Why would you build a desk where folders won't fit in it??!!!! I have looked online but aren't seeing anything. TIA!

Update: When I say skinny, I mean narow. They are plenty deep, just not wide enough. And I can't file an 8x9 sheet of paper because the drawer is not wide enough to hold a folder that size, that's my problem! :) If I could find an off sized folder, at least I could fold papers in half and file them that way.

What can I do next?

Are you sure they don't go in sideways?

Or call the cabinet manufacturer and ask them!

I'm not picturing what your set up is. When you say "skinny" drawers, do you mean narrow or shallow? If they are deep, but narrow, maybe the cabinet maker installed the metal strips on the wrong sides of the drawer, lol. Instead of like a regular file cabinet, they would hang lengthwise of the drawer instead (so that if you were sitting, and you turned in your chair with the drawer out they would be oriented the correct way to you- from the side)?
If the drawers are just shallow, then I don't know why they would have even bothered with the metal hanger parts? That seems very odd.

This does sound very inconvenient. You've probably thought about this but I'm wondering if it would be better to use this drawer as storage for something else and get a standalone file cabinet or box. Office Stores have some that are very decorative, but I do know that would mean taking up more counter or floor space depending on the size. Could you get regular folders and cut them down? It almost sounds like they'd have to be cut down two ways though, since regular paper is 8.5 x 11. Yikes, you must be going bonkers thinking about this!

Ive seen file holders that you set sideways in the drawer and hang the files with papers as usual only they face right to left instead of front to back. You might find that works. Hope so.

The file folders hang the other way. Lengthwise not side to side. You may need to hang regular size then legal size to find which size fits.
