You really need to see a Doctor... not your OB/GYN.
And not the nurse practitioner.
You may even have a Hernia.
But who knows.
You need to get a 2nd opinion and see a Doctor. Your Primary care physician.
I'm not sure if any other mothers out there have had this issue, but I thought I would ask anyway. I gave birth to my second child, a boy, in December of 2009. He was born at home with the assistance of our midwife. He weighed exactly 10 pounds at birth. He will be 6 months old on Wednesday, 6/23/10. I have been having a lot of issues with my lower abdomen hurting off and on during the day, and didn't know if it is still possible for me to be hurting from the whole pregnancy and birth trauma, or if it might be something else. I just went in for my annual exam, and the nurse practitioner that did the exam said that everything looked good inside, as far as healing is concerned. She did point out that I am stretched out, which I know. I just wonder if my muscles got such a work out that they are still sore from this experience, or if I should be worried. Anyone else have this similar problem? Thanks for any advice that could help!

I say go to the doctor also. I had my daughter at home (third baby) 10 months ago, but I've had no abdominal pain. It may just be a coincidence that you had a baby recently, and the pain could be unrelated. Good luck!
Yet another vote chiming in to say see your primary care doctor! Call TODAY!
Congrats on your baby!
I agree with S.H. to see your primary care doctor. There could be reasons unrelated to child birth that is causing the pain. After he does blood work, etc. he'll refer you back to your ob/gyn if he determines that it's possibly related to your female organs. I've never been pregnant and had abdominal pain that started as being off and on and increased over the years. For me it was IBS to begin with. (irritable bowel syndrome) Eventually, after many exams, over many years, I had exploratory surgery and learned that I had endometriosis also.
It could be ovarian cysts. Did the nurse practitioner consider that possibility? Did she press on your abdomen to see if pressure could cause the pain? If you cannot replicate the pain with pressure observe when the pain happens and what you're doing at the time.
Are you breastfeeding? I don't know the kind of pain you are having but I know I had more pain and cramping with my second child from breastfeeding. I too would do what the other two said and see another doctor but I thought I would throw that out there. Good Luck
