Run full strength vinegar thru 1st then 1/2 strength then a couple of runs of just water. Smell will be gone.
Hi Mom's!
I have a Cuisanart Grind and Brew coffee maker (however, I have only been putting regular ground coffee in it). It tastes and smells like old coffee all the time now! My ques is, is there any home remedies that will clean the coffee maker of smell and bad "old" taste? I wash all the pieces, but I'm thinking there must be another method to REALLY clean the machine out! Any suggestions?

Put white vinegar in the water dispenser part and run it through. Then flush with water (at least two or three times afterwards).
Vinegar and water is the key. It works great.
Hi A.,
Run vinegar through the maker--just as you would run the water to make coffee.
Best,

I usually run vinegar through my machine and it works like a charm. I run about 1/2 cup straight then add 8 cups of water and run that and then 8 cups more of water and it is all good. Hope that works, M. T
use a few teaspoons of vinegar with a pot of water and run through coffee maker. run at least 3 more times with just water to clean/rinse.
I use viniger on my coffee maker it will clean and make it smell good.
Hi A.~
I have a Cuisinart as well-not the grind and brew but the one that is just like it minus the bean grinder feature. Anyhow, my unit will sometimes get that funky old coffee taste too which usually prompts me to change the water filter in the back. Could it be that? Does your unit also have that feature? I find I need to do this once or twice a year-it always takes care of it. I just buy the filter refills at Linens n Things or Bed Bath and Beyond. Just a thought.
