Sleep Going from Bad to WORSE!

My 7 1/2 month old boy has never been a great sleeper, would wake once or twice during the night. But with a pacifier or a quick feed he would go right back to sleep for the rest of the night. Since about 6 months I did away with the night feedings because he is such a good eater during the day. I really don't think he is waking because he is hungry, but for the past 2 weeks his sleeping has gotten much worse. He goes to bed just fine, but he wakes up and crawls around his crib, or pulls himself up on the crib. Or if he looses his pacifer he just screams! I have tried letting him cry, once he made him self physcially ill...just wondering if there is something else I can try, or if this is a phase that will hopefully pass? He is also a terrible napper. He takes about 4 half hour naps...

We had a neighbor who's child had to have a paci to sleep..

They had about 5 of them inside the crib all around the baby so she could reach around and pop one back in her mouth.. You might give it a try.

Also remember children go through growing spurts where sometimes, they are hungry at night..he is still have a baby.. so keep that in mind.

My son has always been a great sleeper, but when he learned to pull himself up, we went through some similar nights. I would simlpy go in, lay him back down and firmly say, no, it's time to sleep, good night...it might take a few tries followed by crying it out...I also bought black out curtains around that time, and I swear it helped. Good luck!!

Have you tried an earlier bedtime? Sometimes, when kids are overtired, it causes them to not sleep as well. We found our kids sleep a whole lot better with an early bedtime.

May be worth a try if cry-it-out isn't working. That's usually what has the best results.

Some kids don't sleep well - ever. I have one! He's probably more awake b/c he is learning so many new things. It will go through phases. I would go in rub her back (not pick her) up, and help her back to bed. He will also get to the stage he's able to put the pacifier back in - put a few in there so he can easily find one. Enjoy the little guy - they grow SOOOOO fast.
