Skin Issues After Two Pregnancies

I just had my third baby and, like clockwork, I'm experiencing the identical skin issues I had after the second pregnancy. After the first one I had no issues.
After my second pregnancy, around 3 months, mostly at night, I would have such severe itching on my thighs and buttocks that I would scratch until my skin was bright red (it was too hard to resist); also under my breasts. I started having the itchiest knees with white bumps on them that I would scratch, mainly at night (and they looked horrible/ my husband couldn't believe how much I was suffering).Primary doc thought it was fungal, but the dermatologist ruled that out. He thought it might be chemical (All I was taking was my prenatal, which I stopped per his request) and took a biopsy of my skin, but that wasn't it either. He ruled out scabies too. He prescribed permethrin for 24 hours and then the highest level cortisone for itching. It finally subsided.
Now, after my third pregnancy, it's all starting again. But it seems to migrate to different parts of my body. My two children, nor my husband, have any skin issues. I requested the identical medications I used the last time, but to no avail.
I'm going batty.
I still only take prenatal and calcium supplements. I am lacto-ovo vegetarian and very aware of what I eat.
I'd love to hear from any moms who've had similar experiences. I'm also very keen on holistic/homeopathic treatments, but I don't shun western medicine if it's effective.
Please help!
thanks

I'm not sure what it could be, but I have a friend who does biofeedback and would be able to pinpoint the source of your skin irritation. Her website is consciousbrilliance.com and her name is Diana Rittinger. Good luck!

I developed PUPP, I've also seen it as PUPPP, during my pregnancy. I was extrememly uncomfortable, itchy almost all the time and especially at night, I scratched all night long and would end up sitting with cold compresses, as that seemed to be the only thing that provided relief. The itching made sleep almost impossible. As I grew with my pregnancy so did the rash. My doctor, heartfelt woman that she was told me it was just the price of pregnancy and that was that! I walked into a dermatologist she took one look at me and said, "Oh, you have PUPP!" By the time I was diagnosed I had given birth!! She put me on a low dose of prednisone and it went away, almost overnight. Needless to say, my second child was delivered by a very different, wonderful doctor!!
There is a wealth of information on PUPP/PUPPP on the internet..and maybe even some homeopathic remedies might be suitable..good luck!!

Hi C.,

I am sorry I don't have any advice for you except have you tried acupuncture?

Also, I noticed that you live in P.B. I live in Point Loma. I was drawn to what you said in your bio ... I too am environmentally-conscious, enjoy honest and consider myself down-to-earth.

I just wanted to connect with you, a like-minded person:) I hope you find a solution to your skin issues.

Smiles,
J.

Greetings from Mission Beach! There is a strange condition called PUPPP - Pruritic Urticarial Papules and Plaques of Pregnancy that you might want to google. Basically, pieces of your babies DNA get your body, and your body has an allergic reaction.

I suffered from it post-partum, which is very rare. There are all kinds of suggested home remedies. I found that emu oil worked best for me. (I can put you in touch with some emu people if you want.) And I just spent a lot of time scratching.
