Sippy Cups - Aurora, IL

Just curious on what brands you recommend on sippy cups. My almost 10month old is already drinking from a sippy cup and has been since he was 6months. It seems lately I notice he seems to be drinking fast or it is coming out fast and a lot of it is dripping out of his mouth while drinking. I hope that makes sense but I don't remember my first child having this issue. I use the soft spout gerber cups. I also let him use a hard spout of his sisters cups and he did the same thing. Do you think he will eventually slow down and swallow without it spitting out all over him or is there a better cup out there? Thanks I really want to take the bottle away at a year and hope he isn't still doing this.

You and your son are doing very well so far, so continue to offer the sippy cup. Don't worry about the dribbling for now; he'll get better with practice. We were only introducing the sippy cup around 11 months and still took away bottles cold turkey without any problems whatsoever.

You're doing a great job - he'll be just fine!

Sounds like he's doing great! He'll be ready. Good job Mom!

As for brands, I tried 6 different brands (including the expensive "Born Free") and the ONLY one that does not leak is Playtex.

I second the Playtex ones. I found them towards the end of my first son's experience with sippies and they seem to stand up to kids a little better (sturdier) and control the flow better. We use the hard spout ones, but any of them really are good. My 14 mon old has just recently seemed interested in cups with straws (he sees us and big brother use straws and he is starting to get it) so I have gotten some of their straw cups too.

Try Playtex, out of all the sippy cups we like those the best. Even if my son shakes it etc. it doesn't spill. We use the soft spout.

Have you considered cups with a straw? Our daughter started using one around 10 or 11 months and it is still her preferred way to drink from a cup at 21 months.
