I had good luck with the Dekko Silverfish paks. Our house in California was infested. They ate paper and we could see where they had eaten books, giftwrap and then we'd find them all over in closets and cabinets. Yuck. I put the silverfish paks in all the drawers, closets, bookshelves and anywhere else we thought they might go:

these are simple squares of corrugated cardboard that have been impregnated with boric acid. The silverfish eat them and it dries them out. It doesn't work as fast as poison, it eliminates them as they find and eat it. But once you put the paks in place, you can leave them for a year so it continutes to work and keep them away for a long time.
