Should I Cook It or Toss It?

Thursday night I prepped two breakfast casseroles, a large one and a small one. The large one was supposed to go to work, but my son ended up being sick, so I (and the casserole) stayed home. The small one hasn't been cooked and has been left refrigerated. It has an egg and milk mixture poured over hash browns and cooked bacon and sausage. With the egg and milk mixture being 2.5 days old (made Thurs night, Sunday morning makes it 2.5 days ~ 60 hours old), would that still be ok to cook or should I toss it to be safe? It's been covered (not sealed) and I meant to freeze it Friday morning, but I forgot.

What can I do next?

As long as it's been in the fridge the whole time, I say cook it.

I mean the eggs and milk would still be good if they were still in the shells and in the gallon, right?

It's fine! My worry would be if the meat were raw, but it's not. 60 hours old? No way, don't throw it out. That would be such a waste!!

If you have to ask...

I'd toss it. But that's just me. Raw egg and milk hanging out for so long... eew. I have a low ick-factor, though.

Cook it, it's only Sunday morning, and you made it Thursday night, that's just about 2.5 days.

personally? I would toss it. it's 4 days old - Thursday - Friday - Saturday and now Sunday.

if it has been cooked - i would keep it. uncooked? no.

Smell it. Does it smell funky? If it does, toss it. If not...cook and eat.

Surprisingly, your sense of smell is still the best way to determine if food has turned or not.

Cook and eat. I think you got it just in time. If you disagree, put your nose to it....if it smells foul, dump.

When in doubt, toss it out.

Cook it and then if it does not smell right toss. I would not toss until cooked. I think it will be fine.
