My daughter just finished a book drive for her bday party (instead of gifts) and almost collected 1100 books. Yep u read that directly. At halloween she trick or treated with a friend for canned goods both for the domestic violence shelter in our area.
Today she asked what she can do next. These things have been driven by her (the peace corp may be in her future. Lol)
Does anyone have some other service projects ideas that we can look into having her do? I need some new ideas!

Too young, slow her down a little bit and show her how to be a child.
If she attends Sunday school or is active in Brownies or something similar, they will have plenty of events she can take part in.
How did a six year old learn about "Domestic Violence"?
Awesome! Children's hospitals probably have a list a mile long of needs. Check there.
That's wonderful. A five year old girl in my city saw a homeless person eating from a garbage can and committed herself to helping the homeless. By the time she was eight she founded a registered charity, The Ladybug Foundation, and has raised well over 2 million dollars. Check it out.

Great foundation, great cause, great way for your daughter to feel she's doing her part to help.

If she is truly that motivated, she should join Girl Scouts, or work with a local church.
That's where my kids "gave" the most, and had a chance to do it with friends and family and community.
There is nothing like working together to make one feel powerful and connected, and since she seems to have leadership skills, Girl Scouts would be a perfect fit for her.
Just curious, at six, how does she even know about domestic violence, or kids in need of books, someone must have told her about it...?
These are some of the service projects our daughter did in elementary school.
Here in town the animal shelter collects, old towels and blankets. News papers are also needed.
The food pantry needs canned foods, rice and beans and toilet paper.
There is women's shelter that needs diapers..
Then the lower income schools, usually need new packages of children's underwear and socks..
She could start collections.
Pick up trash in the park or along a beach/waterway.
Help at an animal shelter.
Good for her and for you. What about volunteering at a nursing home? We used to pick up trash as a family when I was little and thought it was super fun (no longer as entertaining to me, lol). That could be done at almost any age. You could also try volunteermatch.com. I think they have options for different age groups.
I have to disagree with the too young comment. Obviously,don't push her to burn out by volunteering constantly, but she sounds like she has a kind heart which is something to be proud of and encourage.
look into "feed my staving children" in your area....it's a place that volunteers can go in and learn how to put together bags of food that are sent over to africa to help feed communities!! might be something she'd like to do!!
Maybe something for an animal shelter in your area or something for sick children or for the armed forces.
It's great that your daughter wants to help others and she's willing to give up her material things to give them to others.
I think it's important for children to learn not only to give material items but to also give of themselves. She can do some clean up at a local park, help an elderly neighbor, make cards for the military/va hosp., etc.
