I would greatly appreciate anybody out there who has feedback on this issue. I have already been to doctor. My 11month old little boy has had diahrea for 6 days which has resulted in his diaper rash. My doctor perscribed some type of cream & told me to mix it with Maalox and Balmex. I have done this for one day with no improvement. I change his diapers every time he soils them, which seems like every 15 minutes ( I have to get the diahrea under control as well). He is ok as far as being hydrated and having a great apetite. The doctor told me to give him rice cereal, yogurt & sweet potatoes to tighten up his stool; I have done so for a day and still have yet to see improvement. I am no longer using wipes, just water with kleenex to clean him. I exposed his rash to the sun for a few minutes today hoping that will help. I would have no problem with letting him crawl around naked, except for the diahrea thing. Please anybody with suggestions, let me know. I am at my witts end!
First and foremost thank you sooo much to all that responded! I was overwhelmed by all the moms who wanted to help me! This is a great website.
My sweet little boy is back to his old self. Diaper rash and Diahrea are completely gone, just in time for his first birthday tommorw! I have to admit, I guess the day I wrote this was the day he was starting to feel better. Since he was progressing for the better, I never ended up trying any suggestions, other than what I was already doing, which some of you told me was right & to just be patient. In the future though, armed with all of this good info, you can rest assured I will try everything. Thanks again everyone!

You know when my girls got diaper rash I would let them air out between changes for about 5 min or so, and then put vasoline over the rash when putting the diaper back on. That way when I did put the diaper back on and she went potty again the vasoline acted like a repelant and there for helpping to clear it up quicker.

One thing that I use to help is the A and D. A long with diper rash stuff. If you give him half milk and half water he is almost a year so it should be ok. Milk will plug them up some. Try some warm water I know you said you use water but they told me warm pluse a mild soap then pat dry with a soft towl.
I really hope this helps they also have this stuff called trip paste that should work with a&d.

You will probably crack up when you hear this...I was a non-believer until I had to break down and try it and I swear to you, I would not pass this along if it didn't work! My sons peadiatrician has been in practice for like 34 years, he is very old school. One of the first things he told me was to get some regular (not butter) Crisco (yes for cooking and baking) and that would be all I needed for diaper rash. Mind you, I was thinking to myself...yeah right, no thanks. Then, when teeth started to come in, nothing I did would touch his diaper rash. I finally had to break down and give the Crisco a try. I cleaned him up and lubed it on. By the next day it looked much better and by day two it was almost all gone. I never thought I would say this but it's cheap and affective, I highly recommend it!

Hi S.,
Are you nursing? Is his tongue white? The diahrea & especially the diaper rash could be caused by too much yeast in his system. You can dissolve 1 tsp. baking soda in 1 cup water and apply that to his rash after his diaper changes. Applesauce also tightens up the stool. What else is he eating? He may have an allergy.

hello, your son must have sensitive skin. My 26 month old daughter has very sensitive skin, since she was born and the only cream that help is called, Desitin and is the original. I tried many diferents creams. You should try it. If your son has cramps because of the diahrea I give my daughters two tea spoons of mint tea, it might not stop diahrea but it would help for cramps. Good Luck....

My little girl is 8 months and last month she had diarhea for a little more than a week. It got so bad that hse had sores starting to open. Our doc had her come off of formula until it was gone she drank pedia lite when thirsty and had bananas and yogurt for meals. Every evening she got a warm bath and then my husband put her on the puppy training pads that you can buy at any drug store or pet supply. It is a square white cloth with a blue edging that is for training and it soaks up very well. We would lay her on this for an hours or so to let her rash air dry. Then we would rub A&D on during the day very thickly. At night we would use the Desitin creamy again very thickly. We changed her diaper every 15 minutes to half and hour during the day and half hour to and hour at night. This means no sleep for one or both of you I suggest taking turns. Half the night one parent then half the other. GOOD LUCK

Dear S.,
You are doing all the right things, try that cream that you find in the women's cream department - I get it at Rite Aid in California, I don't know if all drugstores have it. The short little jar is colored black and white like cows are. In the beginning it was used by farmers to clean the teats of cows, and they noticed that it really made their hands soft and that they healed quickly. Sorry I can't think of the name, but the black and white cow type decoration will help you find it.
I found our jar of it...."UDDERLY SMOOTH", Udder Cream. Good stuff and cheap too.
I used it on my gr grand children and it worked really well and is soothing when you put it on.
Oh, and give him bananas, they help with the diarrhea. ....and they replenish his potassium too , spelling?
Good Luck, C. N.

Boudreaux's Butt Paste! It's no joke.
My daughter had a few episodes of diaper rash, tried all the other brands with every diaper change without any progress. Finally I heard about the Butt Paste on Oprah and thought I'd try it. Honestly, all it took was 1 liberal application and it was gone. Hardly had to use it after that b/c I would put a little bit at a hint of a rash, and her bum was fine the next diaper change. I have recommended it to all my friends, with raving results. It's a little more expensive, but one little tube will last longer than the others b/c you don't have to use as much, and you don't have to apply it for long. And it really works wonders.
It also works on other skin reactions as well.

My son gets diarrea for about a week every couple months. First to help with the rash try a bath with baking soda. Also bananas can help with the poop and also yogurt with active or live cultures. Stay away from any flavors with "p" like peaches, pineapple, and so on. If you stil cant get the rash to go away once the diarrea stops my son ended up with a yeast infection once and another time strep on the butt which both require prescriptioons to heal. But being their is poop its probably that. Also hydrocortizone 1 % is good to help with the pain.Good luck

I would tackle the diarrhea first!! Sounds like he needs acidopholus and other PROBIOTICS. Great Stuff. Check it out online and search Probiotics. Basically it's the live cultures in yogurt. But you can't get him enough from yogurt. You can either go to a local health food store. Or you can emial me and I can tell you where I get mine online.
And for the rash, try aloe vera gel. Not the wimpy alcohol smelling kind for a sunburn. But real aloe vera gel from the plant, or from a health food store. And in the meantime, wash him in the sink with baby soap and water everytime you change his diaper, let him airdry after towel drying, and with the weather warming up, maybe let him run around with no diaper for a little bit.

Ouchies! Try using the Boudreaux's Butt Paste www.buttpaste.com. It not only works on diaper rash but it was formulated for many issues including chapped lips...not that I can imagine putting it on my lips. It's gentle and doesn't sting like other diaper creams.
I'm not sure about the diahrea, my daughter never had it...unless it was induced by her diet. Certian foods would cause it. Try changing juice too. One brand of juice would cause it for my daughter but another wouldn't. Also oatmeal caused diahrea too so just be aware some foods will cause it or make it worse but it is trial and error when testing foods.
good luck.

Good Morning S., I was reading your request and I really wanted to tell you that I swear by Burt's Bee Diaper Cream. It's a little pricely but you only use a little and everytime my sons or children I babysit have diaper rash I use it and it is amazing how quick the diaper rash clears up - it's works even better than the stuff the doctor prescibed my son once. This little girl I watched sometimes had the worse diaper rash that I have every seen where she was all bloody and screamed like crazy when I changed her diaper. Luckly I was watching her overnight so I had about 30 hours to try to macke her more comfortable. Everytime I changed her diaper I would soak her in an Aveno oatmeal bath and then I would put a big blanket on the ground to let her go around with no diaper for about 15 minutes and then put the Burt's Bee on her with a clean diaper. By morning she was so much more comfortable and happy - her diaper rash was completely gone except for a little red on the places that were bleeding. For diarrhea my doctor alway recommends the BRAT diet (bananna, rice, apples, adn toast) Good Luck - with your son, I hope he feels better soon. Thanks, D.

Hi S.,
I am the mother of 23 month old twins , a girl and a boy. In Febraury they got sick with the rotovirus which was rampant then. My kids were vomiting and had severe diarhea. They both got a severe diaper rash. So I started washing them with warm water. It really helped. One of the doctors told me to use Neosporin antibiotic ointment <1%>, at every diaper change. I used this for a couple of days and the rash disappeared. However when I applied this ointment my kids cried a lot because it stung on their raw skin which had blistered.
Another doctor had recommended using baby Aquaphor at every daiper change. So once the healing started i switched from Neosporin to Aquaphor and it did the trick.
I still use Aquaphor when I feel that they r getting red or might start off with a rash.
I think prevention is better than cure.
I hope this helps U.

Hi S.,
Poor little guy, it must hurt! Is he taking an antibiotic? What's causing the diahrea in the first place?
Back to basics...sit him in a tub (plastic basin) in the big bath tub after you fill it about 3 inches with luke warm water with a little mild soap. Swish his little butt around to clean him well and then hold him under the faucet (back to the faucet) and let the water rinse him off real well. Set him on his butt on a clean towel and let him drip dry. Poor some Extra virgin olive oil in a plastic dish (actually do this first before the bath) and then using your hand rub it generously all over his entire butt, including all the nooks, crannies and bumps.
To stop the diahrea, cook some white rice with twice the water. Then strain the water, let it cool and have him drink about 2 oz. It's naturally kind of sweet so he should like it. This is an old standby used for decades.
I just had another thought, If you have a extra ketchup type squeeze container or turkey baster try filing it up with luke warm water and cleaning him up that way...kind of a make shift baby bidet! This will eliminate the need to wipe him at all. I promise you the olive oil will do the trick. I used it on my husbands hands when he'd used a caustic mortor mix without gloves and got a chemical burn that was real painful. I lathered his hands up with the oil and then put socks on his hands while he slept. In the morning they were 80% better! In old bible stories there is always the mention of oil for healing...it's been working for years. Good luck.

My son had a serious case of diaper rash a few months ago. His doctor prescribed a cream called Nystatin (sp?) and it took a few days, but it worked great. Yogurt works great for tummy problems, but again it takes a few days. Tristen was in the hospital for two days because he had Viral Gastritis and flat would not put anything in his mouth. Yogurt was something that actually visibly helped his stomache and pedialyte or gatorade (if he prefers one to the other) definitely helped the diarrea, but everything takes a few days and probably up to a week. One day, though, that diarrea will have just disappeared as well as that rash. You are doing everything right! It does take some time though. Keep doing what you're doing and leave that kid naked as much as possible! He'll love it! What you may do is lay towels or cloth diapers out where you plan on letting him play. This will catch any pee or poop that you might not see coming to cover with a diaper.
Hope this helps!

We let it cool then sprinkled it on her bottom. Her rash quickly disappeared. It is messy to say the least, but it worked where creams had not. Not to mention sprinkling it on hurt far less than rubbing cream onto her sores. Glad to hear it all worked out.

Hello there,
I was a medical assistant at a Dermatology office for 9 years before my son was born and there are a few things you can try. My best experience has been with mixing in the palm of your hand 1% hydrocortizone cream (OTC- over the counter) with A&D ointment or any diaper rash cream. mix equal parts and be generous. This works best right when they are going to go to sleep to allow a longer period of time for the cream to work. I also now use the HC (hydrocortizone cream)with Arbonne Baby diaper rash cream. That is my favorite now and it worked wonders on my son who each time he uses the bathroom or has an uspet tummy gets a serious rash.

You have to ask the pharmacist for it and if they don't have any behind the counter they can order it for you. I usually pay about $7 for it at Rite Aid. I usually use something dry like a paper towel to dab his bottom after I use the wipes to soak up any wetness left from the wipes then apply the Calmoseptine. Hope this helps.

Sammy,
I have never found anything that works as well as Aquaphor. You can buy it in a tube or tub at Walmart, Target, or drug store. I began using it 20 years ago w my little ones and now use it for a cure all, old dry hands, chapped lips etc. At the time my oldest had the same type of trouble. This seemed to be the only thing that protected her skin. Rice may help, but have you heard of the BRAT diet, bananas, rice, applesauce and toast. I would stick as close to that as possible for awhile, see if it helps. Is there a possible milk allergy? If you are just changing from formula, you may try soy or goat's milk. Hope that helps.

Try Caldesene powder, it's a medicated powder in a pink plastic shaker. It works miracles! When he was an infant, my son had diaper rash so bad he had blisters. I was nursing at the time and trying to be a "good mom" with my eating/drinking--so I was consuming 8 glasses of orange juice a day (wanted to make sure he was getting enough Vitamin C)! YOu've had plenty of replies, but here's my 2 cents. My son has bouts of rashes so bad he gets second degree burns. I avoid juice, give baths to clean the poopy diapers, and use a combination of 3 things on his rash as suggested by his doc. Those 3 things are the anti-fungal (chloromitizate or something like that), hydrocortizone, and bacitracin. It goes away slowly, but having the diahrrea under control is good. The rash will start getting better. Fresh air is good, too, but I hate doing that for the same reasons as you. Good luck!

Is you son still drinking formula? My daughter had a horrible case of diarrhea a few months ago and had the worst rash I have ever seen. My doctor told me to switch her formula from her regular formula to soy or lactose-free formula for a week and the diarrhea should clear up. It worked!!! Apparently when they get diarrhea it can cause them to become temporarily lactose intolerant which means the diarrhea will continue until you remove lactose from their diet. After the week was up and the diarrhea cleared up, her system was back to normal and she was able to tolerate lactose again. Once the diarrhea stopped the rash cleared up immediately. Good Luck!

Hi S. -
Were you able to get your child's diahrea and daiper rash under control? I hope so. I'm sure you went out and bought all kinds of rash ointments, but I wanted to let you know about the most effective one I've ever used.... Arbonne's ABC Baby Care Diaper Rash Cream. I have three young boys and when I was introduced to this and other products that work so much better than most, I started distributing the products. Check my website www.4BetterHealth.myarbonne.com and click Shop Online - you'll see the baby products. We use the daiper rash ointment on the whole family whenever they have a rash or bug bite. It almost always disappears by next day. Good luck!
My baby girl got a rash after I started her on her first fruits. The fruit poop was pretty harsh on her skin. Boudreaux Butt Paste worked like a charm but you have to make sure you put it on a dry bum. I'll change her, clean her all up and then just let her rest on the clean diaper without actually closing it up (though I keep my hand on the front flap in case she lets something fly, so I can close it quickly). When she's nice and dry I'll rub on the paste and close her up. Rash was gone in less than two days.
The pears and other fruits caused a bit of diarrhea, which is also when the rash showed up but bananas firmed that poop up pretty good so I'll alternate banana in with every other fruit.
Pears Monday, banana Tuesday, apple Wednesday, banana Thursday, peaches Friday etc etc. With an even spread of nana in her diet I haven't seen any more problematic poops and the diaper rash hasn't reared its ugly head again.
I also use the buttpaste after every poopy diaper as a barrier against wetness. Using after every single change seems like it would be a bit much even if the package says you can do it.

My son is 3.5 years old and he didn't get diarrhea until after he started eating more solid food (around 18 months?). The doctor told us to keep him off dairy (so I am surprised they told you to give him yogurt). He said just give my son pedialyte the first day (less than 24 hours). Then give him more of the grain-type foods, like rice cereal, bread and pedialyte. On the 3rd day, if everything is okay, introduce back starchy veggies. Then veggies the 5th day. Oh, no meats until child is back to normal for a few days. My son has always gotten better by the 3rd day.
As far as diaper rash, my kids ave always had minimual rash. I think it is because I wash their rear after every soiled diapers and I use Viva paper towel soaked in water for wipes. I do rinse baby wipes with water for going out.
One time my son did get a rash and doctor said to mix 1% hydrocortisone, Neosporin, and zinc oxide (A&D or Desitin) and apply to area. Works great!

Have you tried Beudreau's Butt Paste? I know that's a really wierd name, but it works so well. I have to order it online from Target, but I think they might sell it at Walmart.

My newborn had a serious case of diaper rash for 5 weeks straight. Nothing helped. We tried a smiliar mixture that your Dr. said to use and it didn't help. We used it for weeks and finally her butt was so raw I gave up with the mixture. I just let her sleep for hours without a diaper. I blow dry her bottom still with a hair dryer to keep moisture out. I also still have to use cotton squares to wipe her. She has now been clear of diaper rash for over a week. I have had more luck with desitin (regular not the creamy) than anything else. Get lots of air to his bottom. I put my little one on like 5 cloth diapers and let her sleep and it seems to help. I would also attempt giving him lots and lots of bananas along with the diet you're feeding him. Bananas are very constipating and it should help. I'm sorry you're going through this. It's horrible and it will get better. I'm just concerned that your little one has had diahrea for so long. Good Luck!

My Doc. has always told me to do the BRAT diet when the kids get diarhea Banannas,Rice,Applesauce and TOast, and nothing else but water to keep them hydrated. As for the rash just keep using the ointment and maybe put a little powder on so the ointment doesn't rub off and I would give him a bath at night before bed just water no soap to irritate it.Hope this helps

Just for future diaper rashes == if you go to Target and buy Triple paste it works wonders. Our daughter gets rashes on a regular basis due to her skin being sensitive. This by far has been the best solution for us along with a warm bath every time she pooped. Also if you are using wipes try not to, it enhances the rash. Use a warm wash cloth or just toilet paper. We also try and give her little bottom some free time with nothing on, if you can confine him for 30 min and place some towels down they love it and it feels good.
Good luck,
J.

I took him to the doctor after it went on for about a month and it turned out he had a little bit of a fungas. It can be caused from infant egsuma. if you nhavnt taken him in i would. everyone told me it was fine so i waited but i was glad i went because they gave me something better then over the counter and its almost all gone. Also have him eat foods with cheese in it for the diarea. Best of luck.

Hello, I'm so sorry to hear your little one isn't feeling well. I know how hard that is on us, as moms when we can't fix it for them at the drop of a hat.
First of all I have to ask you, is your pediatrician interested in testing your sons stool for any unuual bacteria etc? We went through a VERY similar situation with my son when he was younger. He's 3 now, but I don't think he was even 2 when that started happening. Anyways, the ped. sent me home with some "lovely" little vials with which I was to collect stool samples from his diapers when he had a BM, and within a couple of days they had gotten a positive result (I really wish that I could remember the name of the bacteria they were testing for!) But the main thing was that he was prescribed anti-biotics and within 24 hours the BM's were starting to have a "form" to them, and by 48 hours, you'd have never known he had a problem in *that* area ;o)
I know that even MY ped. tried to brush me off a few times, telling me to feed my son the "binding" foods and all that...it never worked. So my advice to you would be to not wait too much longer before asking the doc to see your son again.
Hmm...and I apologizee, you were asking more about the diaper rash weren't you? lol Sorry...
For the stubborn diaper rashes, we use Lotrimin! Yep, the stuff you put on atlete's foot, or "jock itch" Rub a thin layer over the affected area. You don't have to over do it, but make sure you get *all* the nooks and crannies! And after that, apply a layer of desitin to help "seal" it in, so that it doesn't wash away as quickly when he urinates.
After I saw how quickly Lotrimin made a VERY severe diaper rash go away for my son in no time at all. I make sure that I keep it on hand at ALL times.
Best of luck to you, I hope your little guy gets to feeling better soon!

Hi S., I can somewhat relate to you, my middle child gets rashes very easily and they don't go away very fast either. He gets the type that if they are not gone in a day or two they start to eat at his skin, and he is a fighter when it comes to trying to change diapers when he is poopy! The thiings that have really worked well for me are: putting baking soda in the bath water (a good amount), using a mixture of Mylanta and A&D Ointment (very hard to mix up but works good), and believe it or not, my sister-in-law suggested to me using Vagisil, or other vaginal creams (i used walmart brand) but his rash was gone within two days! Also I used Palmers brand rash cream, I think it's called Butt Cream I found it at Babies R Us, if you don't have one in your area you can find it at a toys r us. All of the things I have suggested have all worked within two to three days for me. Hope all goes well for you little guy....good luck

My little boy recently had severe diaper rash associated with a viral infection and diarrhea. I was told to use Boudreaux Butt Paste and if that didn't work, Domeboro solution. The Domeboro can be purchased at a pharmacy, but not all will have it. I had to go to a compounding pharmacy. We put a packet of the stuff in a 2 cups of water and then soaked a gauze pad then put it up against his skin with a fresh diaper. Leave it for 15 to 30 minutes. It really seemed to help. (Note: if the pharmacy has to make it for you (even though you don't need a prescription) I was told to get the weakest strength, but since it was in packets where I bought it, I made the weakest according to those directions) Good Luck

I have a couple of things that worked for me. It hurts the baby to clean them when their butt is so raw, instead of cleaning with wipes I put them in the sink or bathtub and cleaned them with mild soap and water. you don't need to get them completely undressed just enough to wash their botton. It gets them cleaner and feels good for them as well. I also used bagbalm instead of rash cream. it was thicker, easier to handle and lasted longer. I used it for the first several months all the time and my newborns never got a rash. it's found in different sections of the store. Sometimes it is in the pharmacy and at times it is in the pet section. Ask your pharmacist where they keep it.....Good luck

My son had a real bad diaper rash a while ago that turned in to a yeast infection. I took him to the doctor and he gave us some Nystatin Cream USP. It worked real good. Every now and then he gets diaper reashes and I still use it and it goes away fast. I hope this helps.

I understand how you feel. My son has had those types of rashes. My doctor told me to mix everything that has to do with a diaper rash and apply at every change. The rash is actually like a yeast infection , you can get the generic Target brand of Anti Fungal cream for the feet, that will help almost overnight, due to the rash being a yeast infection. Also wash his bottom over the sink or use a damp washcloth. Hopefully this will help.

Hello S.,
My son has the diahrea thing the week of Valentine's day, so I know what you are going through. When my son was born and we took him to his 3 day check-up my husband and I asked which diaper cream is the best. His answer to our surprise "None! Vaseline is the best."
I will swear by Vaseline, my son has never and I repeat NEVER had a diaper rash, even during his diahrea illness! We just buy the Target brand Vaseline and sometime the Wal-Mart brand.
Another thing we did while he had the diahrea is use warm wash clothes, tried the warm Kleenex but it just seemed to fall apart. Yes, I did wash a lot of wash clothes, but it was worth it. My son didn't complain when we would change his diaper.
I hope this helps. But, please try the Vaseline at every diaper change and after baths as well. Give it a few days (2-3) and I am sure you will be very happy with the results.
True Believer in Vaseline,
M.

Ok this might sound weird, but I swear it works, I learned it from my step-mom, what you need is a stronger antifungal cream! try Lotrimin, its used for athletes foot and comes in a cream sold over counter. also bananas and apples are very good to tighten up the stool, I would also highly recommend staying away from dairy as much as possible, especially the yogurt! my daughter who is now 19mo. has had some serious diaper rashes that looked like the flesh eating disease! these things always seemed to work! good luck....W.

Hi S.,
I had the same thing happen with my daughter and let me tell you that you are doing everything right - you just need to be patient. The cream mixture takes a few days to start working - you are not gonna see instant results. You will notice an improvement after a couple of days. Continue to only use water and cotton to clean your baby - don't let him sit in his diarrhea and let him be free with no diapers for as long as he can because the air helps to dry up the area.
It will take a week to start noticing improvement.
Good Luck and keep doing what you are doing, just be patient!

Hi S.,
When my baby girl has diaper rash I use Aquaphor healing ointment. This stuff work wonderfully. By the next diaper change the redness is gone! I love it. It's about 6 dollars a tube but well worth the price. You can get it at any drug store. If they do not have it in the baby section look for it with the lotions. I would also try feeding your baby bananas if he is not allergic. Those are very binding.
Hope that helps

so I see everything is better, but Calmoseptine is really the best ointment for diaper rashes. Its incredibley thick and will stay on for change after change. In fact I can still see traces of if on my daughter 3 days after I put it on her even with baths. It clears up any rash within hours. I know to little to late, but get some for next time! Its hard to find, but worth it. It used to only be available in hospitals, but has recentlly been available at some pharmacys with out a perscription.

I can relate. A few months back my son had the same virus that was gong around. He's never had a dipper rash before. I felt so bad for his little tush. The dr's told me to do the same thing you are doing. It just didn't seem to be working so I called my grandma. She told me to use corn starch. I loaded his butt up and 24 hours later I could tell a difference. So, I would sujest using corn starch. I know it sounds funny but it doesn't have any perfumes in it. When he goes potty it will absorb it right up! I hope you try this and it works. I know it did for us. Corn starch is the main ingredient in Baby powder but baby powder has perfumes in it also. Let me know if this works for you!

Don't use kleenex it has fiberglass in it - that's why it is so strong... Better off with warm water and the softest papertowel you can find - I mean really soft almost feels like cloth - - - I don't remember which one it was maybe VIVA.... Also - stay away from the yogurt - the cultures are good, but the milk makes the dirahrea worse. Rice and Bananas are good, but no other fruit. My son got this twice when he was a baby - turned out it was the RotoVirus - I threw away all his sippy cups because there were too many crevouses to clean inside them..
Honestly - I took an immodium pill - chopped it up into little tiny pieces and put a little bit of the powder on his tongue - the emergency room doctor said I didn't give him enough to hurt him and that I probably saved his life - they cannot go on with direaha for that many days.
Zinc Oxide was the best cream I found - but you have to air out his butt the best you can....

The only thing I use for diaper rash is Desitin, in the original form. The Creamy Desitin smells good but it just comes off as soon as you put the diaper on. Buy a bunch of tubes, put it on really thick, to the point where you think you might be wasting it, especially at night. For in the bath I've used Aveeno Baby Soothing Bath Treatment, it has oatmeal in it, which soothes irritated skin. For his diet, just make sure no acidic foods or drinks, and bananas help too to tighten things up. I hope my advice helps you, let me know how it turns out! I hope your son feels better soon.

My daughter had the same problem when she was little. I don't know if your son is still breastfeeding or on formula, but when Madison got this her doctor gave her Similac Alumentum formula. This type of formula is specially designed for premature babies and their fragile systems. It helped get rid of the diarrhea and the rash follow soon after. You can get it at most grocery stores that carry Similac formula. Also, try using a blow dryer on the low setting on his little bottom, it helps dry up rash really fast.
Hope this helps. Cori
