Seeking Recommendations on Hospital and OBGYN in Marietta Area

I delivered at Northside and was very happy with them. I used OB/GYN of Atlanta, and they have a satellite office in Marietta, so that might be convenient for you. I've also heard that Atlanta Women's Health Specialists is a good group.

Hi, when I was pregnant back in 2006, I first started with Dr.Street by Kennestone Hosp.(referred to her) and about my 5th mo. of pregnancy, I switched because I wasn't happy with her, her answers were vague, and she was nice, I just didn't feel like she was the right doctor for me. I saw Dr. Pitcher once, and I can't remember exactly what our conversation was about, but I remember as I am a worrier, she worried me even more about being a high-risk pregnancy (which I was)..so she was okay. I switched to OBGYN Associates in by Kennestone hosp. (Kevin Windom-same as Windy went to) and he was okay. I chose to have a midwife, which I'm not happy with my decision til this day, and I'll never do it again. I am probably going to switch to Dr. Kelly there if I stay (he was really nice and I liked him felt comfortable, like my dad's age...and Dr. Windom was younger, felt a little weird with him)...he was referred to me also, and my friend liked him a lot. He was fine, but, I delivered at Kennestone being induced, and the nurses trying to help me deliver at 4:00 am in the morning, were childish, young, and talked about what they wanted to do the next night like going out..just not professional. Ofcourse, I loved the nurses in recovery, not the ones that helped deliver me. Unfortunately, I had to have a c-section after pushing 2 hours (MIDWIFE ONLY CHECKED ON ME ONCE AT AT HOUR 1/2 AFTER PUSHING...STILL WONDER IF I COULD'VE AVOIDED C-SECTION, BUT HIS HEAD WAS FACING UPWARD WRONG DIRECTION--VERY UNHAPPY WITH MIDWIFE CHOICE!)..well, when Dr. Windom was performing c-section, trying to get him out he said, "hes stuck" and "Oh he's big" things I heard, and scared me so much like something was really wrong with the baby!! Scared my hubby too! So, I wasn't pleased with how I heard all those things, and it was very unsettling and I remember it still to this day. I am trying to deside between Northside Hosp. (since I'll be high risk next one-or Kennestone Hosp)...ANYONE KNOW ANY GOOD DOCTORS THEY RECOMMEND???--as I will be high risk over 35, and I had gestational diabetes when pregnant with my son. I also, will have to go back to GRS fertility clinic to help us get pregnant again. Good luck. Let me know of any good Northside doctors you hear of! Thanks! Vickie

Both Cobb abd Kennestone have nice maternity wards. I would say find the doctor you feel comfortable with and if they happen to be affiliated with either of the two then great. I have also delivered at Northside. Personally, I would only recommend it if you have a high risk pregnancy or it's convenient. Otherwise, Cobb and Kennstone should be fine. I am currently pregnant and using Marietta OB GYN. I can't complain but wouldn't rave about them. I have also heard really great things about Dr. Pitchers office from many people. If I wasn't so far along I would change. Hope that helps, good luck.

Really your only choice of a hospital in that area is Kennestone. And I recommend the doctors right beside the hospital, Greg Bauer, Vonda Klein, and some others are in the group as well.

I was directed to OBGYN Assc., right next to the hospital in Marietta. They have several dct's and midwife's to choose from. My dct was Dr. Kelly, he was awesome, they all were. I had a blot clot in the brain with my pregnancy, needed to be on blood thinners, man if it wasn't for these doctor's and God working together I would've never made it ;0)

I have had two babies and Kennestone (and one elsewhere when we had moved away). I had excellent care there and can highly recommend it! Also, the practice of Pitcher Robbins Shin Street Cauthen (I think their sign says Obstetrics/Gynecologists) are WONDERFUL! I went to Dr. Robbins who always had a long (average one hour in waiting room) wait, but was so worth it. I have many friends who go the practice and I have only heard wonderful things about the attention to detail from each Dr. there!

Hi S.. I live in Dallas and go to Marietta OBGYN. I love the office. I don't know if you are looking for a male or female doctor, but I see Dr. Vincent Scott. He has a wonderful bedside manner. I had a miscarriage last year and he was calling me everyday at home to check on me. He delivered both of my children at Kennestone, which both times I had a wonderful experience. But if you are looking for a female, Dr. Tagecian is great too. Alot of my friends see her. The office is on Church street right next to Kennestone, but they also have two other offices. I usually go to the one on Dallas Hwy across from The Avenues of West Cobb. The number if you are interested is ###-###-####. Good Luck!!

You could try Marietta OB/GYN beside Kennestone Hospital. I have used them for years, and coincindentally, so have several friends and family members. There are several doctors in the thriving practice, including a couple women (I believe). Their number is ###-###-####.
I would recommend Dr. Kelley. He is not my doctor, but he delivered both of my children and is very gentle.

I delivered at Kennestone last fall,my OBGYN is Kevin Windom of OBGYN Associates. I had a fabulous experience both with my team of Dr's & midwives and the hospital. The practice has 5 Dr's & 5 midwives and a slu of nice staff. I was high risk and also saw Drs Nathan and Allen of Atlanta Perinatal consultants both offices are convenient to the hospital. I spent 4 days on hosptial bed rest and then was enduced 1 week later. My BFF had her daughter @ Northside in 2002 and her son last ____@____.com said her experience at Kennestone was much better!

I recently searched for a new OB-GYN in Marietta and found the most wonderful practice. It's right across the street from Kennestone Hospital on Church St in Marietta and I love them! I switched to this doctor (Dr. Mary Pitcher) and practice (Pitcher Robbins Shin Street Cauthen) when I was 17 wks pregnant b/c I wasn't happy with my current OB office. I'm currently 25 wks along.) Dr. Pitcher is very attentive, thorough, and I never feel rushed. The office is very nice and the staff that I've met thus far have all been very friendly. I am so glad I found them! One thing the doctors (who are all femaale, by the way) do is that they like to deliver their own babies, regardless as to who is on call. Also, my co-worker's mother (who's an OB nurse) said that this is one of the best practices and she is glad I'm going there.

I haven't delivered at Kennestone Hospital before (this is my first baby), but I have a friend who delivered there who said it was a great experience. I've toured the maternity ward and it seems very nice. I am happy that I'll be delivering there. Sorry to ramble, I just thought I'd throw my two cents in. :) Also, I got a lot of responses to my question (I posted this same question a couple months ago.) Hey S., I HIGHLY recommend delivering at Cobb Hospital on Austell Rd in Austell!!! I delivered both of my babys there. They have a fairly new women's center. Every room is a private room. Your delivery room and you recovery room are the same room. You don't have to switch rooms. I have friends who delivered at Kennestone that were not happy with the experience and the rooms are so much smaller. At Kennestone you can only fit 4 or so people comfortably in the room and at Cobb we had 12 people at one time in there with us. Plus, the "couch" as they call it for dad to sleep on is MUCH more comfortable at Cobb. You can take a free guided tour of the hospital and ask any questions that you have. We did that and I am glad that we did.

As far as an OBGyn...I go to South Cobb OBGyn (who deliver at Cobb) and they are great. It is a fairly large practice, but once you find a doctor you like you can request to see them if you wish. With my first baby I used Dr. Angela Hudson with West Atlanta OBGyn ( I think that was the name of the practice? I can check for you if you want me to) She also delivers at Cobb. She is a God send. She is wonderful!! She is highly recommended. The only problem with going to her is she is in a private practice. She does have a nurse practitioner. She is on call at the hospital 1 weekend a month. So you will see her for 9 months and get really comfortable with her and if you go into labor on a weekend that she isn't on call, then someone you have never met will deliver your baby. Thankfully for me she scheduled an induction so she was there. It may not make any difference to you. She is great.

I met 10 different doctors and mid wifes at South Cobb and I liked ALL of them but one. The one that I liked seemed like a good doctor and he probably knows his stuff but we just didn't click. But 1 out of 10 is pretty good. Their number is ###-###-####. Happy hunting.

I delivered my baby at Northside Hospital. My doctor was Dr. Michele Dodder and her practice Noth Atlanta OB-GYN was wonderful. I found her as a result of not being satisfied with my first doctor. The birth was a pleasant experience and the room was nice and large. They had a sleeping couch for the dad as well. It was just my husband and mom at the birth of my son, but the room could certainly have held many more. Birth and recovery take place in the same room, unless you need to have a c-section. We toured the facility and were very pleased with just how large and knowledgable everything was. Even in such a large space, the staff made you feel like you were the only patient there and really took good care of you.

Bottom line, if you can meet several doctors and get a feel, that is what is most important. You need to feel trust with the doctor.
