All,

My son turns 1 in April. I have read in many parenting magaziines that this is when you should begin your dental visits. Can anyone recommend a dentist or practice in the Germantown area?

What can I do next?

I can't tell you anyone in the Germantown area, but I do recommend you avoid Dr. Mark Barren in Gaithersburg. He wanted to put my seven-year old in the HOSPITAL to fill two cavities, when she cried because she didn't like him. He is a pediatric dentist who does not seem to like children.

We went to Dr. Amy Light's office in Potomac. They gave her a bit of laughing gas, filled the cavities, and she was totally fine.

Hi Elisabeth,

My son has seen Dr. Golnar Jahanmir twice since his first birthday (he's 19 months now). She's located in Rockville just west of the 270. She has a brief website--http://drj4kids.com. She doesn't even charge for kids under 2 since it's just a quick exam. Dr. Jahanmir was great! I know someone else had written in about needing a dentist who specializes in special needs kids & I noticed that she mentions this on her site (I deleted my old e-mail so I don't remember who it was but hopefully she's reading this or someone has it & can pass this on to her).

Hope this helps!
