Seeking Organization to Donate Used Toys

Can anyone recommend organizations or groups that could use toys and baby gear? I like to recycle and would like the satisfaction that others can get some use out of our slightly used things, especially a shelter or philanthropic group serving families with young children. It would be great if the drop-off were easily accessed, near the near south side. I'd like to clear out some space.
Thanks!

The House of the Good Shepherd is located at 1114 W. Grace Street in Chicago. Their phone number is ###-###-####. This is a shelter for Battered Women and Children who are homeless. It is a wonderful organization and they are always very welcoming of mom and child related donations as well as basics (personal hygiene, day planners, etc). Good for you for putting your old stuff to good use.

Hi J., there is an IL foster care facility right near Lincoln Park Zoo. The facility is for teen mothers and their babies. The state gives the young girls an allowance, but they always welcome anything that you would like to donate. I will need to get back to you with the exact address and contact information. I will try to do it by end of today. They will give you a tax receipt for your donations.

Salvation army has drop off depots or they can come to your house to pick up the stuff. www.salvationarmy.com

Amvets also has thrift stores you can drop off things at. They also pick up too. www.amvets.com

Also inquire at local churches or nearby women's shelters.

Hi J. - a friend of mine volunteers and does fund raising for The Harbour in Evanston which is a non-profit organization for at-risk youth. She just emailed about a week ago and said they are starting a new program for pregnant teens and are in need of those types of donations. They have 4 teens already who are signed up for the support.

I know they would be so very grateful for anything you find you are no longer in need of.
