Seeking Moms Group in Clearwater, FL Area

Drs. Lerner,McCance,Rudolph and associates(see Tampa Bay Women's Care website) are a great group in Clearwater. The office staff is nice and they have been in practice for a long time.

My husband is a physician who works in the Clearwater area and I have two children. He insisted that I use Rudolph, Leaner, McCance and Connor and associates. My oldest child is 9 and I still love this group. Dr. Rudolph ended up delivering both my children. I saw each doctor a few times during both pregnancies. The reason that my husband had a strong preference for this groups was because he said, "there is no weak link" or in other words, no one that you are just hoping is not on call when you deliver. Hi K.- I also goto Contempary Women's care, and they are great! I had my son 2 years ago and had no clue what to expect and they completely put me at ease. When it came time for delivery at Morton Plant I couldn't of been happier. Best of luck and Congrats!

I would recommend Drs. Lerner,McCance,Rudolph and associates. They have delivered both of my children. My baby that is a year old now was born very premature. I had an emergency c-section. I was told at 7:00 that I was going to have her and I swear not more than 5 minutes went by and the Doctor was there (had her at 8). She was very nice. She checked on me everyday.
The nurses held my hand a couple of times when I had to give blood... Very kind & tentive people. In fact they got me over fear of needles and I am going back to become a NICU nurse.

First of all, congratulations! I really like Bay Area Women's Care. They have an office in downtown Clearwater, Ft. Harrison across from Morton Plant. I liked every single one of the doctors and felt very comfortable there. They also have an office in North Pinellas, Palm Harbor/Countryside area. Also, might I suggest Pregnancy Yoga? It is not strenuous at all, and a great way to bond with one out of Morton Plant Hospital. You can check their website for classes. Good luck!

I wanted to warn you away from Tampa Bay Womens' Care. I actually go there and like the doctors. However, they just started a new policy - you have to sign over all your rights and agree to mandatory arbitration if they hurt you or your child. I have been going to this group for years for yearly exams, and when I got pregnant, I went in, and they showed me a video saying that I had to agree to mandatory arbitration and give up all my legal rights, or I had to go elsewhere. I had already had one miscarriage and I was 8 weeks pregnant, and I had no idea how to find another OB/GYN without waiting forever ... so I signed. But I really resented the sneaky tactic ... why wait until a woman is pregnant and needs to see a doctor before telling them they have to give up all their legal rights? If they want to do this, they should tell all their patients of child-bearing age, so if people don't like the policy, they have time to find a new OB/GYN *before* they get pregnant.

BTW, I have never sued anyone in my whole life and don't plan on it. I just don't like the underhanded way they did this. Once I have the baby, I am switching to someone else. In fact, I'm looking forward to seeing who is recommended to you so I find a new OB/GYN myself!

Where in clearwater do you live?
You can look up Dr. Jennifer Hayes (Contemporary Women's Care) in Clearwater. They are affiliated with Morton Plant Women's center (awesome hospital). At your first visit you can expect to get a pap smear, blood pressure and a prescription for blood work to check for all kinds of stuff. They will also ask your medical history.

Congradulations. Your first examine is pretty basic, they go over your medical history, due an examine and determine the due date based on your last period. They may also want to do a vaginal ultra sound. I do know that most Doctor's don't wish to see you until you are at least 12 weeks pregnant. I don't know of any good Doctor's in the Clearwater area. When I was pregnant I lived in Tampa. I have heard very good things about Morton Plant Hospital which is in Clearwater. ###-###-#### is their #. Let me know if you have any other questions.

I have been going to Contemporary Women's Care in CLW for 12 years...I lOVE them! It's an all female practice with several OBGYN's to choose from and many wonderful midwives as well. Located just off Ft. Harrison next door to Morton Plant Hospital. I have delivered 2 babies with them, and they are a caring and professional group. I highly recommend...the number is ###-###-####. The first visit usually is a "tutorial" on pregnancy...what to and not to do, in a group setting with other newly pregnant women and their partners. I just had my first child and I went to All Femcare on US Highway 19North. It is two male doctors and they are both excellent. The younger one is newer to the practice, but explains every single test he needs or does and answers any and all questions great. The older one is super funny and makes you very much at ease. You can see both (I think its nice to hear two different views) or just the same one every time you go depending on the day. At your first visit, they do a pap, set you up for some preliminary blood work and basically answer any questions you may have. They figure out your due date and go over your medical history as well. As far as a group setting, that wouldn't make me comfortable and they don't do that here. Its always one on one (or two if the daddy comes). Good luck! Oh, I delivered at Mease Countryside Hospital and they were AMAZING. The rooms are enormous and the staff is super helpful. They take really good care of the babies there also and have one of the top NICU just in case.

The first visit will be mostly getting to know you, finding out how pregnant you are, etc.

Depending on who along you are, you may even get to hear your baby's heartbeat.

Congrats on your pregnancy. I used to live in Clearwater (now in St Pete) and went to Contemporary Women's Care. I loved them as well. I actually drove the hike to see them up until I got pregnant with my son in 2006. Then I switched to Bay Gynecological- a division of Tampa Bay Women's Care (recommended by CWC) so I wouldn't have to worry about the drive in labor!

I actually just found out that I am preggo with #2 & had to watch that video about the arbritation. I guess I took it differently than Maria? I was under the impression that you are not giving up your rights...you can still make a claim, you just waive your right to go to court. Instead of having a judge rule over a court room in a law suit, you state your case in front of 3 arbritrators. It is supposed to save you (& the doctors of course) time & money that can be tied up in the courts. Maybe I am looking at it all wrong? But that is what I got out of it.

Anyway, I hope that you or anyone else for that matter never has to deal with this issue anyway...just thought I'd add my 2 cents.

I too am a fan of Contemporary Women's Care. They are all so wonderful and caring. Nancy and Debbie are my favorites! Nancy delivered my daughter 2 years ago and I am back again due with our second child. They actually have two locations - one on Ft. Harrison in downtown Clearwater and the other is on Seminole Blvd. just north of Park Blvd. in Seminole. And they deliver at Morton Plant which was absolutely wonderful!

For first time mothers they do a small group class about what to expect, but they do not go over any personal information what so ever in the group. You will get to see the nurse one on one to go over your entire family medical history (be prepared to answer questions about your parent's and possibly even grandparent's health - they like a really good family history to know what to look for).

The first few exams are really simple. The first one they do a pap if you have not had one recently, check your uterus for measurement, estimate your due date, give you paperwork to get bloodwork done and set your next appointment. From there the next few are pretty basic - check your vitals, check baby's heartbeat and answer any questions you may have.
