My daughter who was 5 days over due was born without toenails. She has finger nails but no toenails. I can see the nail outline on her toes but there is no nails. Have this happened to anyone else?? Is this normal??

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

After looking her toes over my doctor told me not to worry.. She said there are nails growing but the nail tissue is so little and thin its hard to see but everything is normal.. Thanks everyone for your input.

I don't think it's very typical ...

I did work with a lady who had no toenails. Only reason I know is because she painted them on with nail polish and wore sandals one day. It caused her no problems. And honestly, I only noticed because I complimented her on her nail polish choice :)

Best to ask your doctor about it. I think there is an actual name for this but I doubt many of us would know much about it. Good luck :)

Perhaps they'll develop as your baby grows? What did the doctor say?

Best that you ask your ped this question. If he/she don't know the answer, ask for them to inquire from a collegue, like perhaps a pediatric dermatologist.

What has your Dr told you?

You should get your medical advice from your Dr. not random people on a parenting site without medical degrees.

We are happy to help when possible if we have been through the same thing or similar but we can't diagnose anything for you.

Good luck

I think it can be normal but it also depends on what the doctor had said. Please post an update here for us
