I noticed the request re: Paraguard, and read the responces.I am wondering about Mirena. Can anyone tell me (about either)esp. if you had a c-section. My doctor told me I may not be able to have it(Mirena) because I didn't "deliver" I had an emergency c-section, Although I did labor and dialate.
I used to have endometriosis, so I'm not real excited about going back to long painful periods.
I would love to hear what anyone has to say. Thanks!

What can I do next?

I had mirena inserted within 2 months after my delivery but my delivery was vaginal. This is my first time using an IUD as it is also my first child and so far I do not have any complaints. I was told that it is good for women with regular periods. To tell the truth, the only time I ever had a "normal" period was while on the pill. I hardly ever had a period before then and the mirena has returned me to my normal state without the pills. Hardly any periods to speak of. It's only been about 4-5 months for me however, so the verdict isn't out yet. All i can say is that I haven't experienced any major cramping like some women have reported and I haven't gotten pregnant so those are both good signs :). God bless and take care.

I had unscheduled cesarean in August 06 and got Mirena in January 07 without a problem. I also labored and dilated.
I love it, I still get my periods on the same schedule, but they are MUCH MUCH MUCH shorter and lighter. When I had Mirena inserted I was crampy for 2 days, but it was NOTHING compared to recovering from a cesarean.

My sister had the Mirena IUD and still got pregnant. They gave her only a 30% chnce that the pregnancy would remain viable once the device was removed (she did miscarry). I realize getting pregnant is a danger with any birth control but the removal if you do is something to consider.

Hi,
I have an IUD and I know there are 2 different types..One with hormones and one with out..I wanted the one with out and I have always had problems ovulating even before I had children..I had to do fertility with my first..but my doctor had to put me on birth control even with the IUD to regulate my period...i hear the one with hormones..you get your period lighter and shorter..easier..with out hormones..for me I was bleeding through everything..Horror! when i was put on birth control..I am so much better!I am thinking that this is what it would be if I had the IUD with hormone...Any questions? love to help!
