Seeking Interview Questions for Dad's Life Story

I would want to know about my dad's childhood, things he liked to do or to play with, and all about growing up. How things have changed now from when he was a kid. Different traditions his family had and ones he carried over into his own family. Things he struggled with and what he did to get through the hard times in life. What makes him happy and can always put a smile on his face. Goals he had or does have, and I would want to know about his dreams. Memories he has with each of his kids and with his wife. Maybe advice he has for the family for the future and lessons he has learned from life. I hope this helps.

WOW! Too many to list! I'd start with his family growing up - did he have a favorite sibling? What kind of mischief did they get into? School friends?
How did he meet his wife? (his version might be different from hers) Also, ask about his belief system/faith. It's interesting for future generations to learn about what their ancestors believe. Good luck!

I would ask him, During your childhood, what things that your parents and grandparents do that you remember well and how did they affect your life? There is a book called The Mom and Dad Conversation Piece by Bret Nichoaus and Paul Lowrie in the book stores that has a lot of good ideas for interviews like that. You should try to find it. I would ask about all his different jobs/careers, there might be a few surprises, even you think he's done the same thing for 40 years.

I would also ask what some of his dreams and aspirations have been through his life. He may have had some interesting ones back in his teens and twenties.

Everyone's asking about his childhood, which I think is great and was going to be one of my questions.
So another would be to ask what he felt when his first child and other children were born. How he felt his life would change, his hopes and fears, somthing along that line.

Ask him what he did as a kid/teen that he never got caught for. My dad used to do all sorts of crazy stuff with his cousin...hehe. Who did he play with when he was in highschool? what did they do when they got together?
