I am looking for a good pediatrician in the Metairie area. One who loves children and is thorough and knowledgeable. Also, an office where you don't get put on hold for over ten minutes, where your calls are returned promptly by the nurse AND they don't have to search for hours for your chart every time you call! Can you tell I'm having this experience with my daughter's current pediatrician?? Any recommendations would be appreciated. Oh! Saturday hours a great big plus!!!! Thanks :) L.

What can I do next?

My son goes to Dr. Kantrow at Oschner - I know that it can be a busy place, but he is wonderful - they o squeeze you in if you call and are sick - the only thing that you must do is book well visits way in advance!! We really love him!!! Recently my son has had a cold that he cannot seem to shake and we keep going and he keeps coming up with other things for us to ry and doesn't laugh at me when I call back with stupid "can we do this" questions

My name is S. McCann and we have been with Dr. Keith Collins on Metairie road since birth. He is a great Dr. who is a farher of 5. If that isn't knowledgeable, I don't know what is. He is in his 30s I would say, so he'll be around a while. His office is on Metairie road across from Amsouth bank between Causeway and Bonnabel. He has one nurse, Diane...she's great! They return all calls within a few hours, takes all of his own calls during the week, and rotates weekends with another practice in Metairie. he is very accessable. you can often speak to him in person, even if you don't ask for him. He's very caring and remembers his patients and their parents. He's great. His # is ###-###-####. Give him a call and set up an interview. You'll love him. If you have anu other questions e-mail them to ____@____.com me know how it goes!

My daughter has been going to Dr Barbara since birth and I love him. When she was little bitty and had a stomach virus I brought her in, was seen in a matter of minutes, and he even called my house to check on her later that night (long after he had left his office!) He's also been amazing with noticing that she needed an opthamologist for her lazy eye (and recommended a phenomenal opthamologist who has since done wonders for my baby's problem) and identifying that she needed her adenoids out at 18 months, which has kept her from having a quarter of the sinus and bronchial problems she had as a small baby.
The office is located in the Hibernia bank building on Vets between Bonnebel and Causeway... their phone # is ###-###-####. Give them a try...they alternate on-call physicians on Saturdays and are truely wonderful... Good luck!

Lakeside Children's Clinic right next to Lakeside Hospital. Dr. Casey was actually in med school with my dad and has been practicing since the 70's. He is a wonderful doctor and well respected by the hospitals. He is open on Saturdays for half a day and has even made house calls on occassions. Other good dr's in his practice are Dr. Zanders, Dr. Mcroy and Dr. Adams. The only complaint I have with them is parking. I usually have to go all the way to the top floor in the garage but there are times (especially on Sat.) you can get a parking spot in the parking lot.

Another suggestion is Carousel Pediatrics at East Jefferson. Dr. McLean is very gentle with kids. I can't recall if they are open on Saturdays or not.
