I am a mother who lives in Chicago with a 16 year old son. I wanted to know if you guys know of any good doctors for a teenager. He plays sports so I want someone to give him a good physicial, not just taking temperature and checking reflexes. It is so hard to find good doctors these days that take time with you and not rush you out of the office.

I started off with Dr. Paul Meyer (Meyer Family Associates). He is a family doc. I brought my older son at the time he was about 11 or 12 and he really liked him. I liked how he was with him and he takes the time to answer any questions. I found that if I was concerned about something, he went to great measures in looking into it. I switched all my kids from the reg. ped. doc to him. He is in practice with his brother. I have seen both for either myself or my kids. They are both great. They are located in the Oak Mill Mall (alot of doctors are in this building) in Niles. Milwaukee and Oakton Phone number is 1-###-###-####.

If you are interested in Chiropractic care. I have and excellent one that I have been going to for about 13yrs. They are located in Arlington Heights. 2010 S. Arlington Heights Rd. About a block off the Arlington Heights Rd. Exit off of 90. They have 4 chiropractors, 1 Chinese Medicine doc, Physical therapists and a nutritionist on staff. They are excellent at that office. Their phone number is 1-###-###-####

Good luck. Finding the right doctors are hard.

Would you consider a chiropractor? Not necessarily for your primary care, but at 16 there is so much growing and a chiropractor can help him out with how to take care of himself, posture, nutrition, etc. There is a good one in the Board of Trade, Dr Michael Silbert. He is a bit obnoxious, but he genuinely cares about his patients and will take the time to talk to him. His quality of care is great.
Otherwise, talk to them first on the phone and find out that they do take the time, have nutrition experience, and work with massage therapists. These are signs of a good chiro, in my experience.

Dr.Joseph Terrizzi at Evanston ENH Health Care in Evanston on Davis Street. Affiliated with Northwestern Hospital. It is super easy to get to by car or even by public trans. We take the Red Land to Howard and then get the Purple Evanston line right there and the stop is literally right at the front door of the office building. Takes us about 15 minutes from Edgewater/Andersonville area.

Great with the kids. Especially as they become older. I am so impressed everytime we see him. He talks to my son directly, treats him with respect and he remembers all the details the kids tell him so the kids feel listened to and valued. He definitely doesn't rush the appts. He takes time with the kids and with the parents - no matter how silly you think the question or concern is.

We love our pediatrician and I know they see lots of teens in the practice (3 docs). Dr. Joseph Terrizzi spends time w/us each visit, talking & really listening and we have never felt "rushed through" in order for him or his associates to fit in a million patients a day. Additionally, there is office time 7 days per week (including coverage at other local offices) and evenings until 7 we've been seen in office. He is in Evanston (part of Evanston Northwestern Healthcare) ###-###-####. good luck!

I don't know your location, but if it's near Oak Park, I can recommend Dr. Cheryl Haugh. She's a chiropractic physician and is really good with teens who are in sports. She handles all their strains, growing pains and their emotions. She also does bloodwork, xrays, homeopathy and if she prescribes it, massage is covered by insurance. It's AltCare Health Center at 831 S Oak Park Ave, ###-###-####
