We use Green Mountain. For no other reason then they were the cheapest. They have proven to have excellent customer service, which is a nice bonus. We've had them for 4 years now, and are very pleased. Check out power to choose.

Don't use Stream or Ignite. Total scamming ripoffs!!

We use Reliant and have been very happy with them. I do love the fact that whenever I call (even at midnight) there is someone there I can talk to. An ACTUAL PERSON :) Their rates have been pretty good as far as I am concerned.

Is that just a Texas thing - being able to choose your electric company? You are stuck with whoever does your area here - tho I am very happy with my co-op (so glad I'm on that side of that line!)!

What about cable - tho it's probably high no matter where ya are!

Go to www.powertochoose.org and you can compare all the suppliers in the area.

We were very loyal to Reliant for years. When all then changes started taking place with companies, etc, we checked out this site and I emded up signing a 1 yr contract with Champion. I'm currently on my 3rd yr contract with Champion and we have had no issues whatsoever. My locked in rate is less than 9/kwh.

Oncor just installed the new meters in our neighbohrood this weekend. I assume everyone will have an increase of some sort due to this change.

All in all, our electric bill for the last 3 summers with Champion has not been over $400. We are not very conservative, I run appliances when needed, I keep my house cold because we work from home and we have 4000 SF space being cooled.

I was happy with Reliant and happier with Champion. Watch out for the Stream people though.. that is an MLM. if you ever need to contact Campion or Reliant, there are "real" people on the line who actually work with the respective company, not a MLM.

Our water heater is gas so that might make a difference. our gas bill in the summer is less than $30.

We have used Reliant for over a year now and could not be more pleased. Before switching our bills were over $400 every summer. Now they top out at around $300.
