Hi Moms! I'm looking for a good "honest" Dentist in the Northland around Zona Rosa. I'm looking for a Family Dentist and one that doesn't try to find things wrong with you to make $. My current Dentist tortures me. When we go just for a cleaning we can be there for an hour 1/2. He keeps my young children sitting in the chairs for 30-45 minutes waiting on him to check their teeth after they have been cleaned and they are always coming up with something that needs to be done for "prevention". My oldest son now 8 was born with a bow tie tongue but it never effected his speech. The Dentist recommended he get a frenectomy because it wasn't allowing his tongue to reach the roof of his mouth causing the roof of his mouth to not form correctly. They made us sit there for 30-45minutes before there financial person figured up the cost. They came back and said this is how much it will be, this is what your insurance will pay and this is what you will owe at the time of service. I OK'd the procedure and it was done. Come to find out it wasn't a covered procedure under our dental plan so now I owe $495. Why would they take so long coming back to us with what it was going to cost, amt insurance will pay and what we will pay if they didn't precertify the procedure. Needless to say I was not happy. I want a dentist that when you go in for a cleaning does just that, cleans your teeth and off you go.
If you get a lead on a good family dentist in the northland, please pass on the news. I too, am looking for a good, pain free family dentist. I have had such aweful luck with dentists, since I have moved to Missouri almost 10 years ago that I am now TERRIFIED of them and would prefer to just not go but desperately need some dental work done.

We have been going to Dr. Jared Gerhardt, 10915 NW 45 Hwy (in the same shopping center as Rancho Grande Restaurant). Their # is ###-###-####.
My children have been there (3 and 6). They made my son feel so comfortable for his very first dentist visit...the whole staff is very nice and very child friendly. My daughter had cavities she needed taken care of...they were done with her in 30 minutes and we rarely have to wait a long time. They are always busy (which is a good sign!) but they are closed on Fridays.
My husband and I have also had work done there. Dr. Gerhardt fixed one of my teeth so I would not have to have a root canal..he was trying to save me the expense and the pain! Ha! So, I feel he is very reasonable, they have a payment plan that they can set you up on. They really seem to care about their patients.
Another mom had responded about a dentist by PAC in Parkville, his name is Dr. Berry...###-###-#### www.ChildrensToothDoc.com is his email addrs. We have not gone there but, I have heard great things about his practice.
Another mom had responded about the Dr's Fischer (there are 2 or 3 of them that are sisters.) We used to go there until our insurance changed and we couldn't continue with them. From what I remember they were really great too. (My husband went there more than I did, we had just moved to the northland.) Hope that helps! We really love Dr. Gerhardts office...they take care of the whole family.

I have always taken my 3 kids to a child specific dentist. I appologize I have forgotten the dentist name, however he is next to the PAC center and nursery on 9 hwy. My 4 year old laid there and watched the tv screen the entire time they filled 2 cavities. They did a great job explaining the noises he would hear and corolated the noises to something my 4 year old could relate too. B4 our insurance changed we loved Dr Polina at Gladstone dentist directly across from the post office on 68th and 72nd street. He was also wonderful in & out no parents even needed just for the check up. Loved them also.

We've been to several dentists, and have had simlar problems. We now go to Dr. Kristy Fisher at Family Dental Care. We love her, love her staff. I know you are looking for a dentist near Zona, however I have to Dr Melton, he is the best dentist I have ever been to. Seriously ever! He is still up north, about 10 or so minutes from Zona Rosa. He is great with kids and has two girls himself. My 4 year old loves him and so does my co-worker's 6 year old. Dr Melton is extremly understanding of familys on a budget. My son has not been added to our insurace so he's holding off on the xrays till we can add him. He will let you know what he recommends, and he fully explains not only what needs to be done (if anything) but also why and if you can put it off. He has never has never "come up" with procedures and I fully trust him, which I have never been able to say about a dentist until now.
