Question: I am currently on the depo (Shot you recieve once every three months.) and I was wondering has anyone who's used it every experience any of the following. Fatigue, cramping, dizziness, vomiting or just feeling like you have to,seeing spots. If so how did you handle it and what do you recommand? I've seen three doctors and a specialized and they can't say if it's linked to the shot. I think it is, but if I can get anyones input that would be great.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Hey Ladies,

I went online and did a little research myself. I felt sick to my stomach. I read what one lady has experience since 96. she was on it for 5yrs. I've only been on it for a little bit over 4 months this time. around and came across some other things that are trigged from the depo that I didn't even realize into today and it's total crazy. So I know I won't be returning back for another dose but what should I do in the mean time?

I've been on and off the depo for about 5 years now. I love it. I am on it for the sole purpose of keeping my hormones level and dodging horrible pms symptoms. The only drawback I've had is weight gain which outways the benefits I'm getting by having the depo.

I recommend not getting the shot again, use condoms and see if your symptoms go away. Also, have your doctors check for migraines, if it is painful. They can cause all of the symptoms you have listed above. I hated the Depo shot, it caused me to gain 100 lbs and now I am having trouble losing the weight. I also got a lot of cysts on my ovaries from it and have since been diagnosed with PCOS, I do not know if they are related, but I feel they are.

A huge warning on the Depo. Please, please, please be very careful!!! Both my friend and I were on Depo and both have suffered too long from it. I had panic attacks, severe depression, and major major mood swings. Not to mention, always being paranoid. None of this is even discussed but after I did research, I found out it is very common. The bad side affects are tremendous! Search online and you will be surprised at how many people have suffered. My friend also had very bad side effects from the shot. The physical is the easy stuff to spot, watch out for the emotional and mental! Please be careful! This drug ruined a marriage for me and took many years of counseling to figure out what my "problem" was. As soon as I got off the drug, I went back to normal, but couldnt save my marriage. L.

I know 2 people who were on this and have been unable to get pregnant due to this shot. One has been trying for 3 years and another for a year. I myself had a bad reaction to it - emotionally. I was a wreck.

Anyway my advice is if you plan on having children, I would find another alternative.

I had a lot of problems after being on it and like yours my dr couldnt prove it was linked to the shot but was convinced it was from the depo. I ended it having a lot of cysts also which now that ive been off it for 3 years ive not had any more problems.

Hello...Let me tell you about my experince with depo. 60 pound weight gain in six months, blood clots in my legs, numbness in my arms, hand feet and legs. shortness of breath, fatique, dizziness and much much more. I was not able to function well at all. It took eight months for doctors to figure out that depo was the cost of all my health problems. After I got off it took two years for me to recover and I had two misscarriages. If you are african american your chances of suffering from the side effects of depo is higher and if you smoke...the side effects increases. I bet if you did a online research on depo, you will find all kinds of story about the dangers of depo and the funny thing about it is that nonmedical people are putting that info on the net about the dangers of depo. The longer you stay on it the longer it takes to recover. If those syptoms are present in the body...than it is warning sign that it is effecting your body in a way that is counterproductive. It is a dangerous thing that suppresses a woman's body and this is not something that makes life "carefree."
