We are planning a trip to Sea World San Antonio at the end of next month and wanted to see if anyone had any advice for us. If you have done any of the behind the scenes stuff please let me know your thoughts on those as well.

THANKS!!

We took my son there for a day camp when he was 4 or 5. He did it with his dad and they were out at noon. Then we spent the rest of the day in the park. It was awesome. SeaWorld is great part animal park/part amusement park. The best of both worlds....Have fun!

Sea World will let you take in single portion snacks (we go several times a year and just got back last night). Also, we take an EMPTY thermos for each person and they will fill them full of ice water at no charge. There is also a self serve drink place by Shamu stadium in front of the Atlantis ride and you can fill them up there. We went to Sports Authority and bought Frog Togs (those rags that stay cold and wet) for each of us and ran those under the ice water as well to put around the kids neck. It brings down their body temperature immediately. Lunch with Shamu is great (we really like trainer Greg) and so is the Penguin Encounter ($30 ish) where they get to go behind the scenes, pet a penguin, free tote bag & picture, etc and you can add on all the other picture for $4.99 versus $20. The beluga whale swim is expensive at $170 but we thought it was an amazing experience. The water is 55 degrees though and is very cold even with a wet suit. There is a Beluga Experience and a Beluga Encounter so check the differences online. One you are in the water and the other you stand by the pool and get the whale kiss, etc. Even if you call and they are full, you can check at Guest Services when you enter to see if they have had any cancellations. We stay at the Marriott Courtyard Westover Hills which has indoor/outdoor pool, 2 hot tubs, splash area for kids & most importantly the free shuttle that takes 5 minutes. There is no parking charge at their hotel & it saves you $10-$20 a day on parking. The shuttle leaves every 30 minutes but they give you a card to call if you are ready to come back earlier. They will shuttle you to local restaurants or the store as well and they have a restaurant in the lobby open all day. The staff is absolutely wonderful and my kids love their pool area, the swim up bar the kids can sit at and good food. We bring packets of oatmeal and mac & cheese, etc and use their lobby microwave to save some funds. Also, if you go to the water park go first thing or else there are long lines. Message me if you need anything else & have a great time!

We were just there in May and it was already hot. Definitely plan to cool off in the splash area or the waterpark. Both have plenty for all ages. Did not do any behind the scenes but we did purchase fish to feed the sea lions and dolphins- it was pricey but worth the money. We were pleased with our hotel (Sleep Inn & Suites on Richland Hills Drive.)
Also, get a show schedule when you first arrive. Some of the shows only have a couple of performances per day, so you will need to plan your day around them.
Lastly, I would recommend heading to the left when you first get inside the park to go see the dolphins. We went there first and had a great experience seeing/feeding the dolphins before the crowd came.
Have fun!

We just got back from San Antonio last Friday. It was really alot of fun! We decided to divide the trip to Sea World up into two days. (There's a place where you can find a B1G1 half off admission online). We did the Sting Ray behind the scenes tour. It was really exciting for the kids to feed a sting ray and pet a small shark. I do suggest if you do a "Behind the Scenes" tour that you book it way in advance. We made the mistake of booking it when we got there and the tours that we wanted to take were all filled up. The kids' favorite part about Sea World was the Shamu show as well as feeding the dolphins.

Also as a tip, if you don't get any tickets online, look for Sea World brochures at the local hotels, restaurants, rest stops or tourists facilities. They're always advertising discounted prices on the back or inside of the brochures.

Yes bring plenty of sunscreen! I would suggest that you enter the park on the opposite side as most. The park is laid out in a circle. If you do this the crowds don't seem to be as bad. If you take a stroller, put a scarf to mark it against the others while seeing a show. Also take a big ole beach bag so you can stuff all valuable in it while you are in the show. Pack swim wear and a towel if you plan on letting the kiddos get wet. When we went, they allowed NO food or water which seems evil since we are having 100 degree days! We did manage to sneak some of the crustables in my husbands short pockets and a couple of times we packed a cooler and lunch and ate out in the car (there is no picnic area) The food is of course WAY pricey and not very good :( Also it would be good to pick up a couple of those neck coolers at Academy. They can really help keep you cool.
Have fun,
C.

see Azul. It's the best! But dont sit near the concrete boxes or you will get soaked.
Get a hotel that has a free shuttle. That will save you on parking and looking for your car at the end of a long day.
they allow you to bring in individual size snacks and a couple bottles of water. If you dont do that, buy the refillable cups.
