San Antonio - Desoto,TX

We went last summer. We stayed with family, so I can't recommend a hotel, I spent hours online looking for deals to the park and/or coupon codes. The best deal was found at visitsanantonio.com They gave me a coupon code that actually worked...I got kid entry fee prices and free parking. If you own stock in Anheiser Busch (or know someone who does) you can call them and get a discount card that gets you 10 percent off food and souvenirs. The card they send is generic card board and no I.D. is necessary to use it at Sea World, (which is why you can hit up your friends) .

we always stay at Westin La Cantera and have for many years. We love it! Radisson has a shuttle, but it was terrible the 1 yr we stayed there.

I've heard good things about Hyatt Hill Country too.

I agree 100% with Melanie. We have been taking our kids to San Antonio for about 10 years now. The Drury Inn on the River Walk is the best place for families on a budget. It really doesn't feel like a budget hotel. All suites come with an in room fridge. We packed the fridge full of sandwhich foods, fruit, drinks and snacks. The hotel has free breakfast buffet and a free happy hour for adults and kids. Ofcourse the kids get free sodas and popcorn and the adults can get a stronger beverage. Since it's on the Riverwalk, it's close to everything downtown.
There are no package deals to San Antonio but it's not an expensive vacation if you are driving.
We have a family of 6 and we spent $1000.00 on a 4 day weekend last summer. We did 2 day passes to Fiesta Texas, the wax palace and the Alamo. Plus feeding 6 people for 4 days....not bad at all.
If you like Mexican food, you have to eat at Casa Del Rio on the riverwalk! It's a family tradition that we eat there, at least once, everytime we go. Great tex-mex food!

I lived in San Antonio for 9 years, I just moved up to the Dallas area last year. I don't know of any package deals, however, I must say that Drury Inn is a great place to stay. They have a great breakfast as well as an snacks around 5 PM... something like that, anyway, they usually serve, hot dogs, nachos, bake potatoes, have a salad, just a really nice spread, and for adults, they give a free drink or two... it's pretty nice. I had a couple slumber parties for my daughter on the one located IH10 and it was really nice.
