You can take the Great River Road up the Wisconsin border to Minneapolis. You can drive down to St. Louis and the Ozarks. You can drive to New York City in 12 hours, Philadelphia too.
Hi I'm a mom of four grade school children looking for some ideas where we can go for a road trip during spring break. We enjoy going to big cities. We have been to D.C., Niagra Falls... looking for somewhere about 8-10 hours away that has something to see. Any ideas?? No camping.

I like the Starved Rock idea (used to go there alot in my younger days). THere's also alot of history in Nashville, which, depending on your driving habit is about 10, maybe 11 hours away. Also, what about Tom Sawyer / Huck Finn country, Hannibal, MO? THere are tons of caves in that area (I think that would be fun!!!)
Personally I LOVE Starved Rock! IF the weather is warm and not cold of course. There are things to do with the kids and you don't have to camp unless you want to. Check out their website. =)
