Ok, I have an 11 yr old daughter and I am trying to plan now for the summertime when she is out of school. I am in need of a babysitter. Preferablly at my home and responsible, any ideas moms on how to find one? Usually my niece has watched her but now she is off to college so I need help on what to do here.

What can I do next?

does your neice have a recommendation? Is there a local college around if they have an education department you might find someone willing to watch her and takenight classes.

i guess an add in the paper as a last resort.
You know as i think about it you might be able to find some fun day camps through the Y or other organizations. she might like being with her friends. gooodluck

First and foremost just put the word out... mention it to your friends and other people you know in case they might know of someone who might be looking for a little extra income. My friend needed a nanny and mentioned it on facebook. I saw her post and asked her if I could do it and no muss no fuss I was her sitter. Something she wouldn't have thought to just ask me to do otherwise. :-)

Check sittercity.com.or care.com. You can find background checks and see schedule availability with each of them.
Lots and lots of folks I know have used these sites to find nannies and sitters (as have I).
