Are you eating onions or garlic or chocalate? All these things irritate nursing babies.
I'm only asking because I'm curious.
My daughter will be 3 weeks on Tuesday and starting last night it seems she just can't get comfortable at night for more than 30 mins or so. She's moving in her sleep arms and legs swinging and much more noisy than usual. She was sleeping pretty regular according to the newborn sleep habits She'd sleep through the night for 2-3hrs before needing to feed.
Now I feed her and as soon as I take her off the breast she starts fussing. She's only slept today for about 1hr top then she'll need to be held or fed before going back to sleep. I thought it could be because I drank some coke but then I realized I had drank some soda with caffiene before and this didn't happen.
So, i'm starting to think this is what the lactation consultant warned me about in the hospital.
i'm kinda excited even though my poor baby seems so restless. I'm wondering how much she'll grow before her next appointment!

Mine did something similar. Didn't fuss but was extremely fidgety... almost like he couldn't get comfortable like you mentioned.
But when you think about it, they grow at a tremendous rate... that's gotta be uncomfortable!
I had a little peanut so he had the biggest growth spurt between about 3 weeks and 6 weeks. Congratulations on your wee little one! (growing little one) ;)
It could also just be because your baby is getting older. I remember with my first the first two weeks, when newborns sleep all the time, I thought this isn't so bad I can handle this. And then in week 3 or so she was awake more, seemed more fussy etc. I didn't know what to do, then a friend recommended a book, I got her on a schedule and things got more manageable. With the schedule I had a better idea of why she would fuss (hungry vs tired).
My 3rd child will be 5 weeks old on Wednesday. At exactly 3 weeks old she started acting as you describe. It lasted for a few days, then she settled back in. the best way I can describe it is she wanted to eat all the time instead of sleep, and now she's back to sleeping better. I say it's a growth spurt.
She needs to be swaddled.
