My daughter is 6 months old and we just found out that she has reflux. (THANK GOD). It has been a ruff 6 months not understand why she wouldn't sleep. She did have ear problems on and off also but that wasn't the source of the problem. In trying to clear up an ear infection after three antibiotics and a antibiotic shot our ped. decided to try reflux. AND OH MY GOD has it made a difference. I never knew what my daughter was really like until now.

But now the problem is she is constipated. She is on prevacid every morning and my question is has any other mom had this problem with there kids being on this med. Yesterday we had to give her en enema to help her because she just screamed when she was trying to poop and nothing was coming out. And after the enema there is no way she could have gotten that out on her own. She is EBF. She won't take a bottle so giving her juice is out of the question. She does eat some baby food, applesauce, pears, carrots and sweet potatos but really she will only eat applesauce on a regular basis. I have been giving her karo syrup and water through a syringe but how long can I do this and is there any thing else I can do.

Thanks for the help!

My daughter was diagnosed with reflux at 2.5 months and I understand how relieved you feel now that you know what was bothering her! Our little one also had an issue with constipation and it helped her if we put one tsp. of prune juice in her AM bottle. Since your little one does not take a bottle, you can try to mix it in with her applesauce. Good luck!

you need to talk to someone who can help you with diet.. yours and hers...

it may be that something you are eating is causing the reflux and something she is eating is causing the constipation...

It sounds like you may need to modify YOUR diet if she is EBF. Alot of times, reflux and ear problems are related to dairy or gluten (wheat, rye, barley) intolerances. Try an elimination diet and see if things change. There is a great Yahoo group called "foodlab" that will help you thru it and answer any questions you may have.

Ask your ped if it's ok to give your child a stool softner like miralax. You can buy it over the counter.
