Do any of you use or have recommendations for a recipe software for storing your recipes? I used Mastercook years ago and would like to try getting my meal planning organized again. I'm looking for something that will allow me to store my recipes, automatically double or half a recipe and provide me nutritional information based on the ingredients in teh recipe. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

i found "Big Oven" on the internet (google recipe software). Mastercook is still available too. Depends whether you use Microsoft Vista yet. Mastercook doesn't work on Vista well. Big Oven is supposed to and you can transfer your old recipes in Mastercook to Big Oven.

Hi B.,

My Mom & Dad have been using a program called MealMaster for almost 20 yrs. I did a search before responding to you and there is a website - www.mealmaster.com

It's changed and upgraded alot since what they initially had - but even all those years ago - I thought it was great.

Hope this helps!

I use the Cook'N software and absolutely LOVE it. It does everything you are looking for and then some. You can plan meals for two weeks and generate combined shopping lists for those meals. For example, if you plan the meals and have 5 that call for onion, it will add up the amount of onion in those 5 recipes and put the total amount on your shopping list as 1 item. They have a newsletter and offer free or discounted recipe downloads regularly. You can find crock-pot, low-carb, low-cal or any other types of recipes. You can easily store and group your own recipes as well. I started a family favorites recipe book inside the software when i first loaded it, and as I try the recipes that came with, I move them into the faves if we all like it. If you add a recipe, you have to also add the nutrition information (it won't calculate that), but you can modify the recipe's servings up or down easily. That really comes in handy if you come across a recipe that you want to try without making a ton of it. The web site is www.DVO.com. and you can get the software off the site or pick it up at Best Buy.

I haven't used it, but if MS Works came with your computer, it has a recipe function in the word processing program.
