REAL Heros :)

Today the Patriot Guard Riders were at my church and my heart filled with pride as my son walked by each and everyone thanking them for their service. He spoke with one man and called him a real super hero, to which he said "no I'm not I just love this country!" My son then said "real superheroes don't wear capes!" :) I'm glad my son got to meet these wonderful men and women, he couldn't wait to get home and call his uncle, who sadly he can't as he was deployed last month, and tell him about it. So on this Memorial Day weekend, take a miniute to thank your servicemen and women, take a minute to pray for them and take a minute to pray for the ones who gave their lives for our freedoms, and take a minute to pray for their families!

True heros aren't in it for the thanks, it is the right thing to do.

I just wanted to point out that Memorial Day is to remember the fallen heros, those that can no longer be thanked in person. Considering our heros that walk the earth believe that this holiday is about remembering the fallen it would be best to remember with them their friends that they have lost instead of thanking them personally.

Absolutely!
While **technically** Memorial Day is to remember departed veterans, I think your sons experience was super sweet! So let's not get mired in technicalities, here...
Our active servicemen don't get enough gratitude in a daily basis. Bless your little boy. He expressed in few words what we ALL need to realize more often.
Today, I'm especially remembering my grandfather, US Army, who fought in WWII, including the Battle of the Bulge, leaving his wife and two small daughters to serve.

We honored our veterans today in church. Purple hearts, Navy, Marines.
My Dad was in the Korean War.

Let's honor them by making this country honorable by our actions, person by person.

We just finished a walk for the Boy Scouts around DC.

We got to meet TWO World War II vets. One was at IWO JIMA and the other was on a ship. They took time out to tell us their stories. We shook their hands and said THANK YOU.

I understand that Memorial Day is for those we have lost. I have lost three friends - one in Kobar Towers and two in Afghanistan. So whether for the dead or not - I take the time thank those who have served or are serving our country - so as NOT to forget them.

I have 4 friends in Afghanistan right now. One of my dear friend's son just came home after a year two weeks ago. It was a WONDERFUL Mother's Day present!!

We remember our servicemen and women on ANZAC Day. At Dawn Services, march pasts, playing two-up at the local RSL club. Every Anzac Day I spend the day in tears as the country is flooded with poignant stories and memories of young men who will never grow old. I find it sad that lives are and were cut short for war. It gives us a direct connection to those who died 100 years ago.
