she might have a yeast infection which sometimes looks like a diaper rash. The doc might give you nystatin or you can sprinkle acidopolus on her rash. You can get it from a health food store but I would get it diagnosed first. Hope this helps!
Our six month old has a rash on her bottom. We noticed a small couple of spots so started putting on A&D Ointment and change her every couple hours, whether really wet or not...(more frequently if needed...) and everyday the rash has gotten worse. We haven't really changed her diet, but she is fighting a cold and teething.
We did (on recommendation of her ped)give her some plain yogurt about 5 days before the rash appeared. Since then, I have only given her cereal, formula and baby food that she is used to.
Do you think she could be allergic to the A&D? Any other thoughts or recommendations?
Thanks!
THANK YOU FOR EVERYONE'S ADVICE!!! I now know what to do in the future in case of a rash!
I ended up not putting any ointment/cream on for the weekend and it seems to help alittle (Plus we've started letting her air out more :D) I did take her in this morning to the clinic and it is indeed a yeast infection. They just recommended the Lotrimin AF cream, but said any AF cream would be fine.
Thank you again for everyone's advice and help!

I used the A&D ointment with my oldest and for some reason it didn't make it go away, in fact it always got worse. I use Desitin or even the store brands with all my kids and the rash goes away in a day or two. For some reason I don't know anyone who likes A&D.
Is it possible that it is a yeast infection? I know my daughter has gotten those frequently and a antifungal cream works wonderfully!
Hi J.,
It does sound like a yeast rash. You could try buying plain unsweetened yogurt at your health food section. It will have a little bit of natural sugar, but nothing added. You can use that like a diaper cream right on the skin. That will help clear up yeast on the skin. You can also buy probiotic and open the caps and make a paste out of that with a drop of water. If it doesn't work, it wasn't yeast. It won't hurt baby's skin at all and if it is yeast you won't have to use the harsh anti-fungal stuff.
A.
it could be the a&d ointment their is another good one out there for rashes i just cant remember the name my neighbor who is a day care lady uses it and it works.
sometimes she would also air their bottoms out by not putting on a diaper at all for short peiords at a time with the ointment on.
you have to watch them so they dont wet themselves or wherever they are at.
i know this can seem like a hassle if you work but it will help the rash heal sooner.
My daughter had a recurring rash forEVER - it was red dots also. What FINALLY cleared it up was antibiotic ointment. I actually applied it every night with A&D. Now, every once in a while she'll start to break out and if I apply the antibiotic ointment again, it goes away.
I am way past this stage of tiny babies, but raised 6 and helping with numerous others!!! We used Desitin on babies' bottom and had good luck with it. Be sure to use baby wipes with every diaper change so that the residue of urine is washed off well. Hope this works for you!
If it continues to get worse I suggest you take your daughter in to the doctor. I've done this several times, and always been glad I did. The doctor can take one look and know what type it is. If it yeast, there is a prescrition cream that clears it right up.
When it is just a normal diaper rash (not yeast, etc.), our doctor recommends regular Desitin. Not the creamy. It has the highest zinc oxide level, which is a moisture barrier. She recommends putting it on like frosting! It's the ONLY thing that has worked for us. I had another doctor recommend Aquaphor, for the same reason. But I did not find it worked as well. I wish it did, since I HATE the smell of Desitin. The doctor mentioned she heard someone used Bag Balm with great success. It's a similar consistency to Aquaphor.
As for all these other ointments out there...Triple Paste, Arbonne, and MANY MORE...we've tried with less success. And believe me, I've tried many to get away from the smell of desitin.
Good luck!
Your baby may be allergic to the disposable diapers. Try changing diaper brands or go to cloth and see if that helps.
Also, has your baby been on antibiotics? The rash could be a yeast overgrowth from antibiotics. Anytime an antibiotic is given, a probiotic should be given also to replant the good bacteria that was killed. This helps prevent candida overgrowth. If your baby hasn't been on any antibiotics, then try changing the diapers.
Try sunlight through a window. Or you could try a UV light. A little more expensive, than a regular florescent light, but for me it was worth it. The light and no diaper help the rash dry up faster. Try 2-5 minutes two or three times a day.
sounds like a yeast rash. My son had one once and they put him on nystatin which made it clear up really quickly because it was an anitfungal cream that you put on it. He got the rash after being on antibiotics
This is what you have to try. There is a pomade made in Mexico called Campana or Dr. Bell Pomade. The jar looks like those apple or fruit scented lotions that they sell in Walmart. Initially I was buying it in El Burrito Market in St. Paul (Cesar Chavez St) but they sold it for about $4.50 then one day I found it in Walmart in Brooklyn Park for $1.98. I only have two left so I started looking for more and they are saying they don't carry it anymore. I saw it only but you have to buy a minimum of $130. Anyway, if you find this pomade, it is great for everything of the skin. I used it on my nephew who had fungus in his butt because the rash because so bad. The doctors even gave him prescribe pomades and did not do anything. Three days with Campana and the fungus was gone. I use it for my son and any redness in his butt will go away by the next diaper change. I use it for acne and it also worked for my boss when she had chingles (I don't know if I spelled that right). If you find it will you please email me. ____@____.com Put Campana in the subject so I'll make sure to open that email.
Triple paste works it is expensive but it has worked for me. Pick up at any pharmacy
I know you updated this, but I wanted to tell you this for future reference. :)
My kids both used to get terrible yeast infections (bleeding and everything) I tried the lotramin and it did nothing for them. If this happens for you, my suggestion is Triple Paste. I get it in the baby department at Walmart. It is a little more expensive then other diaper creams, but is the ONLY thing that works for my kids (and my daughter's first ped recommended it). I also love the Johnson's Baby Powder with Aloe and Vitamin E. It helps my son and my nephew as soon as there is a sign of a rash.
Try Paladin Cream
I found it in Wal-Mart in Wisconsin when I lived there, but have to order it now that I'm in North Dakota.
This stuff works wonders!!! Even on red and bleeding bottoms!!!
Red bumps on my boys' bottoms was always yeast. We buy the Target generic form of Chlotrimozole (about $5), an antifungal our ped recommended. You can find it in the antifungal/foot care section.
I use Desitin Overnight as well as generic zinc oxide diaper rash cream and both work really well for my little guy. He has delicate skin and gets horrible rashes almost overnight sometimes. Appy it thickly, everytime you change your baby and see if that helps.
SAHM of seven
Renew Lotion works awesome for baby's dry skin and diaper rash!! Also, if my daughter's got skin irration from her diaper rubbing against her skin, I use that and it's gone the next time I change her diaper!
It sounds like it could possbily be yeast though. A yeast infection has lots of little sores/spots - rather than normal diaper rash that is all red. It's kind of hard to describe, but I'd google infant yeast infection to look at pics. If you think this may be what she has, I'd have the doctor check just to make sure. It can easily be treated with Lotrimin (yep - the stuff for athlete's foot!). I've also seen commercials for prescription Vusion - but have never tried it. I've always used the Lotrimin with triple paste or desitin over it, and it goes right away!
HTH!
My granddaughter had a really bad diaper rash from an antibiotic. My daughter used A & D ointment and other diaper rash ointments. The rash appeared to be getting worse and making my granddaughter uncomfortable. My daughter start using corn starch. She shakes some on her rash and a little on the diaper. She has been using this for three days and the rash is almost gone, Yeah! Hope this helps. It's messy but it works.
I had the same problem with my son. I found out that he was allergic to all disposable diapers. Had to by cloth diapers and rubber pants.Could be the diapers.
First, call your ped and see what they say. It could be a yeast infection in which case they'll tell you what to look for and to use something like Tinactin (for athlete's foot) rather than a diaper rash. But don't try that without talking to them.
Second, MAKE SURE that when you're using a diaper ointment that the baby's bottom is completely dry before you put it on or you're just sealing in the moisture and ultimately making the rash worse. We went through this with my daughter when she was 2 months old. She had a diaper rash that just got worse and worse...I was blotting her with a towel and letting her air dry when I changed her but DH wasn't. Once we got him on board it cleared up in a few days.
HTH!
Hi J.!
My little girl used to get terrible rashes when she was teething, and I tried about everything from different food to different creams. One of my best friens told me about a cream called Calmoceptine, and I have used it ever since. I swear by it. All of my friends use it now and a couple of daycare providers I know have started recommending it. You can pick it up a Walgreens or Walmart, places like that, but you have to go to the pharmacy and ask for it, you do not need a perscription. If they don't have it see if your local pharmacist will order it for you. It is goopy but put quite a bit on, and you will be shocked in a day how much better her little buns are. I hope this helps, and she starts feeling a little better.

Hi J.,
Try Butt Paste! You can buy it at all the stores now, it is an oatmeal base and it is awesome :)
Good luck

Hi J.,
I had rashes for 40 years but since switching the company I shop with I just don't.

don't know how much help this is but our daughters have all had that. it's from the teething. but our doc said put her in the tub with baking soda let her soak for 10-15 mins 2-3 times a day. also do not bubble bath or soap in the tub. wash her up and then rinse her off very good woth clear water and use triple paste on her bottom. this has helped us alot.
I don't know if this is the same, but our daughter had the worst diaper rash when she was around 6 months old. We thought it was an allergy to a food we introduced, so we cut out all fruits and just went back to basics.
At her 9 month check up with her pediatrician, the doctor said that, if she was cutting teeth at that time, kids' poop gets really acidic around then. Apparently it's pretty common to get a really bad rash because of teething.
I have a 6 1/2 month old who had a rash then got worse and it ended up being a yeast infection. Our pediatrician recommended Lotrimin AF which you can pick up at Target, Walmart, and Walgreens. It worked wonderfully and went away within 1-2 days. He suggested putting the Lotrimin on first then following up with the diaper rash cream. I use Burts Bees because it is natural. She has so far been rash free!!
You may want to look into changing the brand of diaper or go into a cloth diaper service. With a service, it is not as much of a pain as it sounds and since you are home anyway, you can help save the environment too. Then, just use the disposables when you are away from home. She may be sensitive to something in the diapers you are using, or has there been a change in her formula, soap or the laundry detergent you are using? A&D is wonderful and I have used it on my kids as well as those I did daycare for. Another good one is Eucerin Cream especially when there is a rash situation. Sometimes teething and if she indeed has a cold on top of it, her body is working to fight something. Has she needed to be on antibiotics? If it is quite red and bumpy, it is possible that she has a yeast infection in which case the Ped would prescribe a topical ointment to get rid of it. I highly doubt that the yogurt did anything to cause the rash. Usually that is recommended for digestion and would help flush things out of your system. Do you know not to give her any citrus until she is about 2 years old? It is too acidic for their little systems. And no honey until she is more than 1 year. I think it is botulism that they may get. Something about the digestive enzymes don't react well to it-something like that. Does she like her bath? Let her soak her bottom in some nice warm water and air dry afterward. In fact, leave her bottom open air if she is not crawling around and would make a mess all over. If it is just not going away and spreads, definitely see the doctor for a more positive assessment. Good luck and enjoy! Time goes so fast and these little ones are grown before you know it. It is great that you are able to work from home. Hope this helps! :)
My daughter had the same problem. We went to the dr. and he diagnosed her with a yeast infection, and told us to use lotrimin. It's an over-the-counter cream used for treating athlete's foot. It sounds wierd, but we tried it and it cleared up within a few days. Hope this helps!
What does the rash look like? If it is red with small dots it could be more of a yeast type infection. My doctor told us to use vagisil or a yeast cream that you can get over the counter. You can also get a prescription for Nystatin (a steroid cream) from your doctor, but it is really strong. I would try over the counter stuff first. It is possible for a reaction to be from A and D. my son had a reaction to Corona ointment. And also A&D might not do the trick for this rash.
You could try Desitin one of the other creams, instead of ointment. They work really well on my little guy. I don't know what else to try. Good luck.
Check with your doctor to see if it may be a yeast infection. If it is, diaper rash ointment has no effect on it. Out of my 5 children, 4 developed a yeast infection. By my 3rd rash, I finally got the right medication from the doctor and cleared up the rash in no time. Hope this helps.
Grandma in Iowa
You could try Arbonne's herbal diaper rash cream. If you need a sample let me know.
There are only 2 things I use on my daughter's: Arbonne diaper rash cream and lotramin (or the equate brand) if it seems to be more of a yeast infection type rash. That usually works when my girls are teething. Good luck!
Try switching types or brands of diaper cream. I noticed with my son that sometimes different ones worked. I never had that problem with my daughter, but sometimes the cream worked better than the ointment or vise versa. He even had gotten one so bad after having an antibiotic that I put monistat on it and it cleared up right away. I just had to experiment a little and it eventually went away. If it doesn't go away take her to the dr. I don't want to scare you, but I have a good friend that finally took hers in and the dr told her it was like a staph infection.
The only ointments that worked for my son were the zinc oxide types...like Desitin. Look on the labels for ones with the higher percentage of zinc oxide. It always cleared it up fast for me!
If the little spots appear to have a tendency to bleed, it could be yeast. All my kids had rashes like that at various times and what worked was Monistat applied (externally only) .directly to the problem area Sometimes I'd rub in some Desitin over the top of that.
You do NOT want the creamy kind of Desitin because that CAUSED diaper rash in my kids. You want the original formula. I do think using the A&D in lieu of the Desitin would be just fine, but for the first day of Monistat, leave off the extra diaper rash cream.
I hope that helps! I know the trick sounds weird, but I learned the trick from an experienced mother of ten and have had great success with it by no later than day three each time I had to use it. It's worked every time for the rash that is spotty and potentially or actually bloody.
Hello,The one thing that seem to help my son when he was that age and he also had alot of rash due to antibotics, I tried Gold Bond cream in a tube, and it did the job. Try it and see what happens.

My daughter always seems to get diaper rash when she is teething. I use hemp hand protector from The Body Shop as a natural way to help with this. Sometimes the chemicals in those other creams seem to make it worse. If you would like me to send you a free sample, let me know!
If the rash has red dots in it, it might be a yeast infection, if so talk to your doc. However, I have never found that A&D clears up a rash, it is good to prevent, but once my babies get rashes, especially if they are really angry looking, I will use a triple antibiotic ointment with either Budreaux's Buttpaste or Desitin as a protector, and bath at least once or twice a day to get the area very clean. Also any air time usually helps.
Hi J.!
I recommend Inkomfe Skin Repair w/MLE. You can find it on their web site, www.inkomfe-usa.com . Its fabulous for diaper rashes! Its made from African botanicals, so its super gentle on baby's skin and its safe, too. If you'd like, I can send you a free sample to try...just contact me and let me know where to send it! Good luck!

For what it's worth. When my daughter had that problem, I switched from disposable diapers to cloth diapers and left off the plastic pants. I found that if I used a regular detergent I had to run the diapers through the wash twice, the first time with detergent, the second time without. I did find, however, that when I used Amway's SA8, I didn't have to double rinse. This was 30+ years ago, though, (my daughter is the one who referred me to mamasource) so I don't have any idea where you can find cloth diapers. Good luck!
Hi J.- when our son had a rash that would not go away we took him to the pediatrician and he had a yeast infection (had been on antibiotics)..the rash had bumps that were more raised than the usual diaper rash..treated with over the counter lotrimin..would check with your doc to double check that rash and rec treatment. Letting the bottom "air out" after bathtime helped with the rash as well. Good luck!
I have a 6 week old baby girl and when she had gotten a little rash I tried some diaper rash cream but didn' see it get better so I asked my midwife what I could do. She recommended using a hairdryer 12 inches away on low heat to dry off her bottom and then put olive oil on the rash area to act as a barrier from the urine and stool irritating the rash. I didn't use the hairdryer, but I did use the olive oil and the rash cleared up in a day or two. I have also tried to let her dry off for a couple minutes before fastening her new diaper when I change her (if time allows). Hope this helps!
Hello J., I am P.. I am Beauty Consultant with Mary Kay and we had a ped dr in our hosp clinic that was given samples of our extra emollient night cream after using it on rashes on the bottom, face etc she wouldn't perscribe anything but that for rashes. I would be happy to send you a sample to try or you can go to www.marykay .com and find a consultant in your area that you could contact to get a sample to try on the little ones rash. If this is something you are interested in you can contact me at ____@____.com or you can find me on yahoo messenger under the screen name dt2_psg to arrange for me to send you that sample or like i said if you prefer someone close by you you can go to the website listed above and put in your zip code and that will give you their contact info. good luck and let me know please what you choose to do. I sure hope this is of some help. Thank you.
My oldest used to get the worst rash when teething. It was actually our first sign that teeth were on the way. Does it seem to bother her? Does she get fussy with a wet diaper? Does she holler when you wipe her? If she seems uncomfortable it doesn't hurt to bring her in or call a nurse. I doubt it would be an allergic reaction to the ointment but anything is possible. One thing that helped my son when he had his teething rash was extra liquids (even though it made him wet his diaper more) and soaking time in the tub. I think the extra liquids had to do with diluting his stomach content so that his urine wasn't as strong (it seemed stronger when teething).
Good Luck!
Your daughter may have a yeast infection. Buy some Lotramin (yes it is for athletes foot and/or jock itch, both a fungus, similar to yeast) and apply 2-3 times a day. If that is the problem you should see a difference in just a day or two. A nurse friend recommended this when our little girl had what sounds like the same problem. The Lotramin (I used the generic version,Targets brand Clotrimazole cream, 1%) took care of the problem. Good Luck!
Hello,
Have you tried switching diaper brands. Both of my children seem to be allergic to pampers. I switched to luvs and their rashes cleared up in a day or two. (My friend had the same thing with her baby.)
Mandy
Hello fellow mom! I am a chiropractic assistant and chiropractic is scray to people at first-trust me I know. But chiropractic adjustments can help your little one. It has helped my 2 1/2 year old daughter with everything. She had exczema on her face--CURED! She had ear infectiong--CURED! She didn't sleep well through the night--CURED! I am not selling you anything. You will never meet me nor will I say where I work. So the only benefit I get is knowing that you went to see your chiropractor. Also, Applied Kineasiology is a natural way to check if yor child (or anyone) is allergic to something. There is hope and your child doesn't have to take any medications for it! :)

After reading your post, I have to question if she is allergic to the diapers you are using. Have you tried chlorine-free disposable or cloth diapers? Perhaps it's not the A&D that's causing the rash. Then again, it just might be a little funky rash due to teething. I wouldn't get too worried about it as long as you at least give trying chlorine-free disposable or cloth diapers a shot. It's scary when they have rashes, because you know it's probably nothing but deep down, you worry and that (in addition to everything else) can actually keep you up at night...at least that's how it was for me when my kids were that little! Good luck!
it could be a yeast rash, I would take her in to have it looked at. they have special cream you can put on it to get rid of it.
I highly doubt that she is allergic to the A & D ointment. She probably has a yeast infection, which is a common development after another infection/cold. I would call my doctor and get it checked to see if that is what it is, but it sounds like one to me. If it is, they will give you an anti-fungal ointment to apply with each diaper change until the rash is gone. It works well, and you usually notice the difference within a few days. (I have a one year old who has had this a couple times, and I also happen to be a RN).
Try using Argo Corn Starch, Just that. My daughter when she was in diapers has a bad red rash and nothing seemed to help it go away. I was in the store and this lady told me use Argo Corn startch. I did and the rash went away within days. Its great for not only cooking but getting a rash to go away. Good luck
You may want to take your child in to the pediatrician to make sure the rash isn’t a yeast infection. I wouldn’t think your baby is allergic to the yogurt, but certain foods can cause diaper rashes to form easier such as tomatoes and strawberries because they are a bit more acidic.
My seven month old had a rash that I could not get rid of; as soon as two teeth broke through, the rash disappeared within about eight hours. My thought is that it's probably more related to teething and/or the cold. Some bare bottom time might be helpful - let her roll around on something waterproof for awhile.
give her a good bath with a mild soap then blowdry her bottom (on low) and then if you are willing let her go diaper free for a while, my son used to get the worst rashes and we just let him run free and the rashes got better, of course you will want to put an old blanket or something down so that she doesn't mess the floor. :) good luck
You may want to double check with your pediatrician, but we had a few times where we were told the rash was actually a yeast infection caused by the wetness in the diaper. We tried hydrocortisone ointment and it did the trick...
My son reacts to teething by getting a terrible diaper rash. I have found that A&D is useless and like the Walgreens generic diaper rash ointment. It is super thick...almost paste-like. It helps a lot. Doesn't hurt to give it a try:)
Good Luck!
Good Morning, J.! I had the same problem with one of my twins, he had a rash that even with diaper rash cream it didn't go away. After many trials and errors, I figured out that he was allergic to the diapers we were using! His brother wasn't, but Justin just seems to have much more sensitive skin than Ethan. So, we switched brands and within a week it went away. (which of course we figured out less than a month before we took them out of diapers completely LOL)
Any chance it could be a yeast infection? My daughter had what sounded to be the same thing and after a month and a half to two months of doing what you are talking about ie: the frequent changing etc., the doctor suggested an over the counter cream....Clortimizol? I know that's spelled wrong, but anyway, it's basically an over the counter anti bacterial cream. I would try it, just a small bit barely the tip of your pinky finger, once in the morning and once at night. Call the doctor and check, but it worked great for us.
It sounds like candida (yeast infection). It will only get worse if you just use diaper cream. My daughter had the same thing terribly and the pediatrician gave us "Butt Paste"...not the brand but a mixture that you can get a prescription for. Call the dr and ask if they can just call it in over the phone. This worked wonders! Good luck!!
This happened with my 3 Month old. The Dr. suggested a few things to us:
*Make sure the bottom is totally dry. Be suggersted using a hair dryer on the bottom to dry it.
*Let baby have some time without a diaper on. Place a towel or padding under babies bit in bed and let them go without a diaper for a way.
*Use Desitin (we were using something else) because it is higher is something - I think it is zinc. Which helps the bay's bottom.
When I had my first baby a friend recommended Corona Ointment and I thought she was crazy. She ended up buying it for me so that I would try it. The crazy part is that the label says it is for minor scrapes and sores on horses. It is pharmaceutical grade lanolin. Appearantly a lot of people must use it because over the years I have always been able to find it at any store that has a pharmacy. Sometimes it is on the store shelves and sometimes I have had to ask the pharmacist for it. I think the last time I bought it I got the larger jar and it only cost me around $7.00. That jar lasted me for the entire time my baby was in diapers. After trying it I never used anything else for diaper rash again. If you would like to see what it looks like you can check out their website. http://www.coronaproducts.com/Pages/firstaid.html

When my son was a baby, he would get the worst diaper rashes. I can not remember the name of the product that the doctor told me to use, but I THINK it starts with a "C" and it is actually a foot fungus cream. It sounds gross but it did work, and I only used it when the desitan and the A&D did not work. Also, you want to make sure that you let her bottom soak in the bath for a while and dry it off really good!!! Good luck, again I am sorry that I don't remember the name of the product but you can buy it from any pharmacy.
Hi J.!
I would highly reccommend the ABC baby line which has an incredible diaper rash cream. All of Arbonne's products are Botanical and are pure, safe and benneficial. I have been an Arbonne consultant for over a year and have had rave reviews on the baby line! I can give you more information such as ingredients and testimonial letters from dermatologist if you would like. I would also be happy to show you how to get your products at a discount. Just let me know how I can help J.. You can email me at ____@____.com if you would like.
Take care,

HI J.,
Everyone has their own experience with rashes, and you will get plenty of advice on food reactions etc. Teething brings up things in the body. It disrupts internal balance with the stress, and hits the immune system thus affecting process body wide.
Rashes in that area are often fungal in nature, but with fungus and wetness come a host of other complications, such as bacteria, that create an environment for the conditions to thrive. Drying them up with other anti-fungals such as some of the creams, myrrh or tea tree essential oils is not effective. You need to balance the skin, as well as address the bacteria as well as the fungus. Try getting a half oz. bottle of geranium pure essential oil, Pelargonium is the Latin name, and a bottle of Jojoba oil from your local health food store. The Jojoba oil will be pricey, but it is worth it. Perhaps split it with a friend. Per 1 oz. of jojoba oil, add 6 drops of geranium oil, and shake well. Apply this to the rash 3 times daily. Hopefully it will help. Good luck. There are other ideas I have on this, but this one may fit your situation the best.
Did you ever check to see if you baby has a yeast infection? Their very common! Angela
What I found that has worked the best is Desitin (regular, not creamy). It has the highest ammount of Zinc Oxide (40%). I found the A&D rubs off pretty quickly. I also sprinkle a little bit of baby powder on top of that - making a paste. The thicker the barrier, the better! And I know that we are not supposed to use baby powder any more (I'm an OB nurse, and teach my moms not to use it...BUT...it really, really helps to keep the zinc oxide barrier on the skin!) Also, give baby a nice warm bath and let babe air-dry! That too will work wonders! However, if the rash continues to get worse, starts to bleed, or you suspect a topical yeast infection, contact your physician. There are Rx ointments he can prescribe!
I have 3 kids and what I found worked best for diaper rash with all of them was Johnson's Baby Powder with Cornstarch.
It is not messy like ointments and it dries up the rash rather quickly. I always felt like creams and ointments held moisture and didn't help much.
The rash could be caused from her teething.
I hope this helps!
My daughter was allergic to the zinc oxide in Balmex and Triple paste so i switched to just Vaseline. The vaseline work on the rash, however, her "bottom" can't get the air required for normal evaporation so she developed a yeast infection. Go to your local pharmacy and ask for the "purple Paint" for yeast infections. Apply 1 time day one and 1 more time day 3. Careful this stains badly. Within 7 days if it is a yeast infection will be gone completely. If it is not a yeast no hard done. Also use baby powder lightly and a litle less A & D to allow the air flow.
I have a 16 month old daughter who has had problems with diaper rash since she was about a month old. Sometimes it gets so bad that it would blister and bleed. We figured out that it usually comes before and during a cold and/or when she's teething. We tried a whole bunch of suggestions and found anti-fungal cream (we used the generic brand). You can find it in the athlete's foot care section of Walmart, Target, Walgreens, etc. We would do that every other diaper change and then Triple Paste (available at Walgreens and some Walmart's) on the other changes. The Triple Paste is a little expensive but worth every single penny! Hope this helps!
BOUDREAUX'S BUTT PASTE!!!
This has been magic in our home. Although we have also recently discovered that fragrance free wipes are also key!
One of my son's was actually allergic to "plastics" so diapers were horrible for him....any brand...all the time. I pottytrained him Very early! The Butt Paste is more expensive, but I think completely worth it. My husband and I have actually given this as baby shower and birthday gifts. And usually about a week after the recipients stop laughing about the name, they call to thank us. The only reason we ever tried it in the first place was seeing the name.
Hi J., I am an Arbonne consultant and the baby line has incredible testimonials for baby rashes. My girlfriend just used it on her 3 month old baby's heat rash and gone within 2 days. Arbonne is pure, safe and beneficial. I can get you samples anytime.
Hope to hear from you and good luck,

Sounds like it might be a yeast rash. I have two boys and was surprised to find out that baby boys could get yeast infections that mimic diaper rash. My boys got yeast almost every time they were on antibiotics or if they had diarrhea. It appears red and bumpy. My doctor recommended Lotrimin. I can't remember which type of Lotrimin, but if you ask the pharmacist they will tell you. Also, if it is yeast, you should ditch the A&D ointment. That will only seal the yeast in and not allow the skin to breath.
Good luck to you!
I'm a 61-year-old grandma, and I would bet she has a yeast infection. This is even more likely if your baby was on an antibiotic and/or has soreness in and around her mouth. There are good prescription salves for this, and Lactinex (available from your pharmacist) is also a good, safe remedy.
Just an idea, but do you think it might be yeast infection? My boys (crazy, I know) both have had yeast infection on their bottoms and it is bright red dots amongst the red chafed look of a normal diaper rash. There is a prescription topical cream that they can give for it. In my experience I have had good luck with Creamy A&D, but even that didn't touch a yeast infection rash.
Maybe this isn't what you've got going, but thought I would throw it out there- I didn't know what it was the first time my son had it and it took awhile to get it figured out.
Hope whatever it is clears up soon :-)
Diaper rash is actually exacerbated by creams of any kind - they are a fungus or yeast that is trying to grow. Putting something wet and smothering like lotion on the rash will cause it to spread (or just not go away). I will never understand why the pharmaceutical companies don't understand this - the people who develop A&D must never have had kids.
Wash off the ointment and bathe the area with Tea Tree Oil (two drops in a bowl of warm water). The Tea Tree will kill the fungus/yeast and the area will dry out. Cider vinegar - a teaspoon - dissolved in water will work too - but the Tea Tree is so great.
If you don't want to try Tea Tree or cider vinegar (both are non-toxic and completely safe) just wash the rash and let it dry out - do not diaper her for 20 minutes or so after you wash her. The air drying will help to dry it out.
Changing her diaper more often and washing the area and letting it dry will make it go away - a little slower than the Tea Tree, but it will go away.
In the end, diaper rash is going to happen when babies spend 100% of their time diapered. Let them air dry and enjoy life without their bonding diapers several times each day.
