Radiant Barrier - Plano,TX

My husband is looking into the radiant barrier for our house. We live in a one story, 2100 sf house in Murphy. He can't find any substantial evidence that this is a real money saver. Does anyone have any advice/experience that this is a good or bad investment for our house?

What can I do next?

I have to disagree with Kate. Our home was built in '04, and our insulation is very poor. We're actually looking at doing something else. I did hear someone mention an inexpensive Triple Insulation roll, but I don't know where you get it or how much it costs. it's worth asking around, though. I also heard someone who put an insulation panel on their garage door for $30. We're looking into that one right now. They said it made a huge difference.

We had it installed in our previous home. It was a 3000 sq ft two-story, and no we did not see much improvement in bills. From my experience, I would not recommend it.

One of my best friends owns his own heat and air company.. he said it is a total rip off.. We looked into it too ... he said blow in more insulation, and seal all of your outlets, doors, windows, in the house.. even where the ceiling fans are.. if your house is sealed like a glove.. obviously you will hold in more heat/air. My hubby is pretty handy so we are in the process of doing that now... I cant have another expensive summer!!

i think the newer homes from 2004 and up are all pretty well insulated try doing some research on-line and see what the insulation laws were for newer homes... if you have an older home it might be worth it...
