I also have a 3 month old (girl) and we recently fought the cradle cap battle...successfully by using the toothbrush the hospital sent with us home to brush the hair with. I used it pretty aggressively to scrape the cradle cap off, then washed her in the tub, using J&J Head to Toe generously on the head, rinsing really, really good & then applying baby oil on the area. I did this for 3 days & it was gone!

We used olive oil and an apricot oil from Burt's Bees, both worked and smelled good! Use them during tubby time and use a soft brush to get it out. Takes a few tries but eventually it is gone.

Try using some baby oil and let it soak in for a while then take a fine tooth comb and gently remove it before shampooing. It may take a few times before you get it all out but shampoo alone will not take care of it you need to soften it with the oil and them remove it. You can put a hat on to prevent the oil from getting all over the sheets.

My son had cradle cap too. Like the other moms, I rubbed baby oil on his head, let it soak in for a while then used the hospital brush to scrap it off. I did this every day for about a week or so and it eventually went away. My son also developed a rash on his face and my pediatrician said it was from the cradle cap. This too eventually went away.

Hi - My son also had cradle cap and I just combed it out with a fine toothed comb and soft-bristle brush. I then began using Mustela Foam Shampoo for newborns which "washes away flakes associated with cradle cap" and we haven't had one bit of cradle cap since then. It is a foaming shampoo and works great - I highly recommend it!

I used baby oil...massaged on scalp then combed it out...just make sure you don't have any professional pictures taken for 4 days because that's how long it takes for the oil to come out....also, watch the baby in the sun over the week because he/she could get sunburn...

Yes, cradle cap often coincides with the baby's newborn hair falling out. Is it kinda yellow and oily/crusty? It will go away on its own eventually I guess but you can treat it effectively and easily. I tried the Mustela and it didn't work as well as baby oil the other mom suggested. Put in on and work it in well about 1 -2 hours before bath time. Put a hat on to prevent oil all over the place. Then using a baby comb brush his scalp to get the scales up. Dont be rough but you have to really get in there to loosen the up. Then wash his hair. Do this for at least a week. His hair will look greasy for a while though even after washing.
