keep nursing through out your pregnancy as long as you want to.

most mothers are uneducated and think they have to wean their nursling when pregnant.

I nursed through one of my pregnancies and guess what? No sore nipples with the new baby. I was in heaven. I tandem nursed them for a year, as well, and no engorgement after the birth! BTW, of all my kids, those two are the closest. I swear it's because they were nursemates. :)

Both pregnancy and breastfeeding require some additional calories and nutrition, but if you are taking vitamins and eating additional calories, then there shouldn't be a problem unless your doc is concerned. I got pregnant with my second when my first was maybe 7 months old. I continued nursing my first until 13 months when she decided she was done. I had no difficulties nursing my second who was interested for a bit longer - 19 months. Do what you feel comfortable with.

My best friend is a doula and has 6 kids. there ages are 10,8,6,4,2,and newborn and she breastfeed during all her pregnancies.

I know with some women breastfeeding can cause ealry labor, but if you have had a trouble free pregnancy in the past, i dont see a reason why you shouldnt cont.

Good luck.

i breastfed my daughter during my whole pregnancy plus i breastfed both my daughter and son after giving birth. If your doctor says it fine continue. Those others might have been at risk for complications. I did have one nurse yell at me for breastfeeding my daughter while pregnant but i flat out told her the doctor and lactation nurse said its fine. If later on you start having premature labor pains they may ask you to stop. But for a normal pregnancy breastfeeding is healthy for both you and the baby. Your body will adjust your calorie intake may also be increased to handle the pregnancy and breastfeeding but as long as your doctor says its okay you can continue. Good luck.

I have never heard of this being a problem. I breastfed my 1-year-old for about three months while I was pregnant with my second child (she weaned herself at that point). La Leche League is a great resource for breastfeeding questions--they have a forum on their web site. Maybe you can get some more info there.

I would say if you and your child are happy nursing, go right ahead and continue. Good luck!

My son was 6mo old when I became pregnant again. I was advised to immediately stop breastfeeding! I went home broke down, fed him one last time and that was that! I will say however that I had a very obvious history of unexplained miscarriages... So just as a precaution I went ahead and listened to my Dr and stopped the bf'ing.. I figured if I lost this pregnancy I would forever wander if it was because I was stubborn and wouldn't stop BF'ing...

Telling you that... I will say that if your pregnancy is completely normal and you don't have a history KEEP BREASTFEEDING!!! There's no need to worry about anything, like others have mentioned. Make sure you keep up on your vitamins and keep hydrated and eat those extra calories!!
