I am having a pumpkin decorating party in a couple weeks. There will be about 50 people, 23 of which are kids. I will be providing all the decorations for the pumpkins. I thought I would ask you creative moms what some good decorations would be. I'm trying to think outside the box a bit.
I already have...
foam stickers
markers
tattoos
tissue paper (with glue)
What else could I use that the kiddos would enjoy. They range from 1 year to 10 years.
Thanks mommas, have a GREAT day.
Thank you mommas, I knew I would get some great ideas. I am heading to the craft store to stock up!
I also LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea of the candy pumpkins. I will definately be doing that. If not at this party, definately with my kiddos.
Thanks again and have a GREAT Halloween!!!

acrylic flatback jewels, glitter, toothpicks, googly eyes, paint, felt they can cut it out for hair and such... really anything that can be cut or glued. sounds like lots of fun!
Just saw a pumpkin with crazy "hair" out of coiled pipe cleaners - they were coiled (like around your finger, then spread out) and sticking straight up - looked hysterical!
At our Montessori (Greenhouse Montessori )school we had started a tradition 3 years ago that is awesome. We use stright pins and gummy candies to decorate the pumpkins with. You can get licorice, gummy eyes, candy corn, etc. to push into the pumpkins to create. The families each decorate one as a group and they LOVE it. The possibilities are endless to what you can decorate with. Have fun.
Your pumpkin decorating party sounds like a blast! What a great idea to get everyone together to start out the holidays. A few years ago at Michael's craft store they had a make it take it craft pumpkin to decorate. We still put out the craft jack-o-lantern my daughter made there. She used jewels for eyes and mouth, a pom-pom craft ball for the nose, pipe cleaner for the hair and eyelashes (we curled it around a pencil, but you can leave it straight or make designs with it) and cut out some foam peices for the ears and background for the jewel eyes. We used craft glue to make everything stick to the pumpkin (except the pipe cleaners, which were stuck in with their pointy wire ends). I think all of these items would work on a real pumpkin too.
I would add fake curly hair, seeds and sequins and buttons of many colors and varieties and sizes - all available at a craft store. Make sure you have small plates to place them all on.
Happy Halloween!
Yarn also makes great hair. Happy Halloween!!!
I always had the kids put feathers in the pumpkins. Also, if you have or are able to find any wooden hammers and golf tees, this is fun and a great gross motor activity! Have fun!

One year we used wire and beads to make "hair" for our pumpkins. My daughter even got creative and made designer earings.
