I need a craft idea for my sons kindergarden class. We are doing 3 crafts and roating. We are doing pumpkin bingo, and a water table with water and corn starch mixed so i need a craft project that's easy. The teacher suggested a foam craft but I have found the glue dosen't stick very well.

You can use small pieces of tissue paper to make a sun catcher. We used small paper plates with the center cut out (which is the trickiest part!) for the frame, then put a circle of contact paper over the front of the whole. Let the kids cover the sticky part with tissue pieces. when they're finished, use another contact paper circle on the back. A small hole in the top & a piece of yarn/string and they can hang them up.

What about making halloween necklaces. I just did that with a group of 1st graders and they loved it! I bought a few bags of pony beads and some chording at the craft store. Plus, it's fairly non-messy (minus a few beads on the floor)

On my son's foam craft projects we have always used glue dots. They seem to work very well. For my Son's kindergarten halloween party craft, we had them decorate their own treat bags. We gave them stickers, and google eyes and halloween foam stickers to put all over them. It was quick and easy and they all enjoyed it. Not to mention they then had a bag to put all their party goodies in.

Paper bag puppets, you make hand puppets with paper bags, you could do cats, or pumpkins or whatever. Use construction paper, crayons, paints. Kids like doing that. You might want to pre cut the shapes for the faces or at least show them the shapes and have them try to do it themselves(they look more individual that way)

I have seen the self adhesive foams in Walmart. Also glue dots (they are like double sided tape) work well with foam

I found some fall cut-outs from Dollar Tree. The kids can decorate with fun fall stickers and glitter glue.

What ever happened to the great string and macaroni. Its cheap, easy and my kids still love it. It actually is a great benifit to fine motor movement for kindergarden. You could even color the mac in orange, green blue or whatever.

You have some great ideas here...I love the handprint cat idea...too cute! Anyway, another easy, non-messy idea is to do rubbings. Kindergartners love it! You can make it fall themed by getting leaves, hay, acorns, etc. and it's easy with no mess!

H.,

I am doing this craft this year and it is so easy. Make spiders out of suckers. Round end of sucker is the back, "tie" 4 black pipe cleaners around the stick of the sucker to make the 8 legs. If you feel really crafty, glue on 2 googly eyes. Even more crafty? cut off the extra stick and use a red marker to color the end and make a mouth. Super easy and super cheap.

just an idea- paper cup spiders- you take a paper cup (punch holes with a hole puncher) and thread black pipe cleaners through them- you can glue wiggly eyes or have the kids draw them on- Different size cups make diffrent size spiders

I don't have any idea how much $$ your class has but a real easy craft is to purchase enough of the tiny pumpkins you find at the grocery store (make sure they each have a stem) have them put glue all over the pumpkin, then sprinkle them with gold glitter. wrap green pipe cleaner around the stem and it makes the cutest little decoration. They look shiny and sparkly and look good on someone's desk or even a table topper----- Aren't school parties fun to plan!!!!! Ha! Ha!

Good Luck---JC

They have Halloween foam shapes that are self adhesive. I've found that they stick really well to most surfaces. You could also just buy some black, orange or white handled bags and let them decorate their own treat bags. Another idea is a medium black pom pon with 4 black pipe cleaners & 2 googly eyes. Put it together with a little glue to make a cute spider. I've done all of these with little or no prep work for pre-K, K and 1st grade parties.

Foam crafts require special glue. Oriental Trading has it as does Hobby Lobby. You'll find it doesn't take as much as Elmer's glue and the projects will stay together.

Take a box lid big enough to put a black piece of construction paper in. Get a marble and dip it in white paint, put it in the lid and let the kids tip the box so it rolls around. Makes a spider web, then either glue a spider on or just give them a plastic spider to move around and play with. It is fun and doesnt take long to do.

I would definitely go with the foam craft. They're easy and fun. We always use glue dots. They're in the scrapbook section at Michaels or at any scrapbook store. They come on a roll with different sizes. Simply take the piece you need to attach and press it to dot on the roll. Then stick that piece to the other piece and Voila! They're stuck together without the mess. You can even cut them into strips so that each child has their own set of dots right in front of them.

For a foam craft, buy glue dots! They are found in the scrapbooking section. Not to expensive, you get a lot, and they work well with the foam stuff! That's what I used with my son's foam crafts!

Use the orange foam and make a pumpkin and then you can get foam that is already cut into shapes that have a sticker like background (I think you can find them at Wal-Mart) and they stick really well. Then they can decorate a pumpkin.

Hi H., How about getting a piece of square thin foam like 8x10 or 12x12 for each child. Get metal cookie cutters and help them make their own foam puzzles. The foam can be placed on card stock so they have the frame for the puzzle.

Was just something that popped into my mind when I read your note. It's only 5:07 AM, still getting my coffee IV...lol

Have fun

Glue is a mess and I would avoid it at all costs. A mom in my daughter's class just came up with a brilliant craft that was easily finished by the kids in about 12 minutes. She got some glow-in-the-dark stretchy plastic cord and some beads. She cut the lengths of string to about 8 inches (?) I'm guessing, and put that with 30 fall-colored beads in individual baggies. The kids made bracelets. They all loved them and it was easy and mess-free, but I think she did spend some time putting the individual kits together. Good luck.

A little late for Halloween, but for Thanksgiving and Chistmas. I like the sticker kits from Current catalog and Oreintal Trading Company. They stick well without having to mess with glue. Both have several differants designs. I got these funny monster cards with face part stickers for halloween and turkey ones with clothing acessory sticker for thanksgiving.

You can always do the turkey that's make with their hand print. It's pretty cheap to do and it's something that parents can hang up every year at Thanksgiving time.

You might also try Crayola.com for some wonderful idea as well.

Hi H., This is kind of a snack idea, but kids can help make this. Make Witch hands. Get Clear plastic gloves ( not rubber ), the kind they use at deli's. Put candy corn in the finger tips of each finger, fill the rest of the bag with popcorn, tie off glove at the end & put a cheap plastic spider ring on one of the fingers. It's easy to make & the kids can have a snack to take home. Good Luck!

You could use lunch-size paper bags-stuff w/newspaper, rubber band the top & have students paint or use markers to create a pumpkin (stem at the top) OR pre-cut pumpkins out of contruction paper and various collage materials for the students to create & enjoy. You can check out perpetual preschool for additional ideas or enchanted learning (both online)

Are you looking for something Halloween related? If so, here are a few ideas we just used with my parish's moms' group Halloween party:
1) Q-Tip Skeleton: You just need black construction paper and pre-cut some skeleton head shapes and cut some q-tips in half (not all, just some). Elmers glue should keep everything glued on the paper, you can bring some markers, too, so they can draw on faces.
2) Popcorn hand: The kids loved this one because they could eat it later! You need: plastic gloves (powder free, latex free), popcorn, candy corn, ribbon and some fun, cheap spider rings if you want. They put a candy corn in each finger (finger nail) and fill the glove with popcorn. then you tie it off with ribbon. You can put the spider ring on one of the fingers.
3) Handprint cat: Use washable black paint so kids can make a handprint on orange felt. Their fingers are the legs and tail. Then, use pre-cut black felt circles and small triangles for the ears and head. For the eyes you can use buttons or those googly eyes. For the wiskers, we precut some orange yarn and tied it in the middle to look like a nose. Elmers or fabric glue does the trick.

A cute ghost craft: Take their hands and dip them in white paint(or paint it on with a brush) and then place them on black paper. Thier upside down hand is a great ghost. Then add black eyes or goggly eyes and your done. A big container of wipes makes for easy clean up.

We are letting the kids squeeze out orange icing in a ziplock bag (corner cut off) onto round sugar cookies and then letting them decorate their pumpkin creation with Halloween sprinkles. Yum.
