Hi Again! I was just looking for everyone thoughts on puffs. My 11 month old loves the Happy Baby puffs. I try not to give him too many, only a few after lunch and di nner. Also, to lure him into his carseat!!

I was wondering how other moms feel about puffs, how unhealthy are they?

Thank you!

What can I do next?

I thought this was going to be about tissues. :-)

I gave my girls the puff cereals from Gerber and the Parent's Choice brand when they had two upper and two lower front teeth. The generic ones actually melt faster than the brand names ones. We would get the "veggie" flavor and the apple cinnamon ones.

There's nothing in them. Seriously. There's like 25 calories, no sugar, etc... in a whole container. They're like eating air.

My kids lived on them until they wanted something more substantial. (like Cheerios or crackers)

My DD is 20 months and if I let her she would eat them all day. I usually cut her off after a suggested serving or so but if you look at the nutrition content on those things they really are not bad for them and I would much prefer she eats that than a pile of sugar coated cereal or something of that nature

My 9 month old loves puffs too! We usually use gerber, but he will take any brand. I only give him a few at a time as well. At the most, he only eats 5 at one time. I don't worry too much about the nutrition (or lack there of) of them because a serving according to the label is 73 pieces. He never eats that many!

The Gerber puffs were ALL my son would eat for MONTHS... he's soooo picky. The pediatrician said it's fine as long as he's being offered other foods too. It's a phase :)

Oh my son LOVED those - still does. We used to give him a lot when we were out and about. The gerber puffs , gerber veggie stick or cheese sticks, yogurt melts. I thought atleast the yogurt melts were good because of the probiotics.. We were giving it to him while at the pediatritian office because he wouldn't calm down until he finished all of it and doc told us that all of these were just snacks. It's better to limit how much he eats. She suggested apple slices with peanut butter or crackers with cream cheese instead. She told M. how one mom mentioned to her that her daughter eats lot of veggies and fruits and doc asked which ones are her favourites - and the mom listed the veggie sticks, fruit puffs. :) How we moms get fooled looking at these packaged snacks which come in all healthy fruit and veg flavours. I got fooled too. I didn't want my son to snack so much but since he loved it so much I had almost convinced myself that it;s still good for him because he is getting nutrients hidden in those. Apparantly I was wrong :)

All of my 4 kids haved loved anything to do with any kind of Puffs. Honestly it is one of the only things that works for my 11-month old while I am cooking dinner, and sometimes with 4 kiddos it takes a while! My thought is, as long as you are offering other well-rounded snacks, fruits, veggies, etc., it's ok to give him them. They are pretty tasty!

Now that my twins have teeth I prefer giving them the whole grain cheerios instead of the puffs. They dont seem to mind. And a box of cheerios is not much more than a little can of puffs
